Mitsubishi throw the covers off their next-gen Evo
Say hello to the Mitsubishi Evo X.
Launched next year the all-wheel-drive road weapon will be the the best-looking, fastest-cornering Evo yet. It will also represent a significant shift in the car's personality as it becomes an all-around performance car, based around a completely new chassis
Gone is the souped-up look and in comes a lean, purposeful shape with great proportions. There's plenty of aluminum in the bodywork, including the hood, roof and the wings. Twin exhausts are an Evo first, and help improve the look. 18-inch rims will make it onto the production model.
Mitsubishi hopes that an all-new turbocharged 2.0-litre engine should deliver free-revving performance and expect 320 bhp from 286, while torque will climb to 325 pound-feet. This power should enable the Evo to sprint to 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds.
The Evo X is expected to go on sale in Japan in September, with U.S. and European launches in early 2008.
