as some of you may know i have the US spec bumpers with the side markers fitted to the car,
since i first got them i have been disapointed with the glow from the reflectors, the standard bulbs that came were just too weak, so i up graded them with LEDs that came from japan, but these were just too yellow,
this is how it looked at first, with the LEDs in from japan....totally NAFF.
so i decided to make my own.
i saw a link on this site to a german guy who had done something similar, but he used something like 16 LEDs per corner, i just wanted to use 4 or 5.
this is the first circuit i came up with,
uses 5 sunset amber 3mm swuperbright LEDs with a forward current of 2.5V and a resistance of 100mA, and a 1 ohm resistor.
sadly this was a no go, as the colour when lit (as you can see)was almost red!!
try number two!!
this time i went for 4 5mm superbright amber LEDs, with a forward current of 2.4v and a resistance of 100ma, with a 39 ohm resistor.
i decided to lay the LEDs flat to avoid glare, when they say superbright they mean it, plus this diffused the light better!!
and this as they say is the finished article,
looks so much better in the flesh too, the whole reflector lights up now with a nice even orange glow.
dead chuffed.

been busy with the LEDs!!
