Just like to say a big thanks to all you guys / girls who've been their to give advice and opinions while I have owned my passat, it was and has been greatly appreciated. If only every forum was the same!!

Once I get my new motor sorted I'll pop back on and show some pics, but be warned.....its french!!

I got this because the running costs will be fantastic and with just buying our first home....it seemed the best thing to do, can't wait!

Thanks agains people!!

Damian

Don't feel you need to go - this is a place for ex and yet-to-be Passat owners too :D

And yours was particularly nice on the eyes in any case 8)

But if you're off anyway, toodle pip, all the best! :D

...but the first bit that falls off it you'll be back to German! As a previous owner of a French car I can quite categorically say it was the worst put together car I have ever owned - although it was an old Citroen BX but even so :?

This is my second french car now, first was a saxo a few years ago and had no problems at all. Saved an absolute fortune. Also had 4 german cars amongst others, 1 BMW, 3 VW no major faults with them either.

I'm not going to dis VW as I have been a happy owner, but when something does go wrong with them you need deep pockets as I well know with my last car.

I will say this though, if I was to get in my Passat now or mostly any B5 today, I'd most likely have to be wearing trunks...... with the "french" car I don't.

As for bits dropping off.....it was a bx erl72

As far as I'm aware the french cars seem to be holding there own this day and age according to certain mags etc, and I'm very happy with my new motor.
