Think I'm changing my mind about buying gearbox from scrappies

Rang all in Devon and Cornwall looking for Getrag ELN gearbox, no luck.
Done the parts gateway, breakers yard search with 6 or 7 positive replies, yet to ring and confirm code.
Reading reviews so many were saying they'd paid and no part was delivered.
Yep, go and pick it up, trouble is they are either in Essex or Lancashire, fair way from Devon, although take out the £50 delivery carge the fuel costs a bit more manageable.
What would you do, am I being paranoid...?
