Things to know when buying B7 or B8 passat

Hey, im looking to upgrade my much loved and trusty 03 tdi 4 motion to a newer model. What are the things to look out for or avoid when buying the newer shape Passats?
Are DSG boxes reliable?
Are their any engine codes to avoid?
Is water ingress an issue?
Im looking to spend 10-12K and it will need to be Diesel and estate. Quite like the R models is it worth paying the extra?
