Removal of headlight hdi kit/bulbs

Hi All, newby here
I have recently purchased a 2006 Passat estate 2.0 Sport with 140ps, I believe it is a B6...but what do I know heh heh!
My question is this: The previous keeper installed an HDI headlight kit but one of tje dipped bulbs has blown and at £60.00 a pop (no pun intended) from a known parts supplier (H.....s) I am loathe to pay it!
Would any members know whether I could remove the HDI bulbs and revert back to standard ones without removing the kit or would I need to remove the kit in it's entirety? Equally if removing the kit would new bulb holders need to be purchased?
