Are B6 Passats really that bad?

Hi.
I'm looking for a B6 passat TDI at the moment to replace my Bora as my daily as I need a bigger car for my growing family.
A few people have warned me away from the B6 saying I'll be forever repairing it and I would be better with a B5.5.
Are they really that bad?
