Air-Ride... any good forums about????

Post by BIG F@ TW@ » Sat Oct 01, 2016 8:08 pm

I've a plan forming in my head ready for a new project, and it involves bagging a 5.5 Estate. I'm looking at the different options available from buying a kit for DIY installation, to letting someone fit a kit for me etc.

I'm handy with the tools, but not with welding (if it's required) and would like some pointers from anyone who's experienced fitting a kit, or has had one fitted by a company etc.

So looking for recommended companies, ballpark figures for buying a kit to having someone else supply and fit etc.

Cheers

Guy

Try rayvern hydraulics. They are 1 of the uk's top hydraulic and air guys.

I bagged my B6. youll need a chassis notch for the front as your drivers side driveshaft will rub on the chassis when lowered.

The is also some work that needs doing regading the upper wishbone or something on b5 variants. you newed to chop through the shock towers slightlyt i believe if i remember correctly.

If your local to the west midland (staffs) then i have a close mate who owns a VW resoration shop. hes bagged 3 cars so far to a very high standard, for cheap!

You won't need to do any of the above on a b5.5

OK so I thought i would revise this as I'm now in a position to get looking for the right kit.

Over the past year I am now on my 3rd B5.5 Estate. I've had a blue 02 Sport (fast but battered), a black 04 Highline (complete but too scruffy) and finally another black 04 Highline which is in very good condition.

So now I have the right car I am looking or the best kit. As mentioned I really want to fit the kit myself, so ideally would like to buy the parts I need for the install separately as this would save mucho £££'s, however if the price was right for the complete kit then I'd go for it.

I have seen the Air Lift Autopilot V2 set ups and they are exactly what I am after as they have 8 presets and lots of diagnostic tools built in, however the kit price is a bit of a stretch:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Passat-B5- ... SwPRlXnPWM

TA Technix looks like a good set up for the price: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TA-Technix-Ai ... Swux5YPXrD

I am researching the shopping list I will need to buy the parts individually, but has anyone got any pointers?

NOT INTERESTED IN THE WHOLE COILOVER v's AIR-RIDE DEBATE.
