19" + is the road to ruin , there seems to be this incessant trend to mooosive wheels both in diameter and width and slam it on sub £200 coilovers so the sump is at great risk.
I blame it on the marketing...
I see these cars bobbing along twitching left and right dodging every road imperfection they can
The public roads aren't like a relatively smooth pothole and drain cover free race track and even then big wheels don't win races with their extra unsprung weight affecting handling , bhp, torque and mpg and the elastic band tyres are less progressive when they loose grip they just snap with oversteer .
If you want the look of larger wheels go max 18" use spacers to get the wheel close to the outer arch and choose a wheel design that has it's spokes run right to the rim edge .
The latest victim with a proven history of common sense issues owns this 20" with 30 profile respectable branded 5 month old tyre .
Glad I've got 32mm more profile on my 17's .
