Missing my Passat

Post by Dakota » Thu Feb 17, 2011 5:35 pm

I doubt many of you remember me, I used to sign a couple of years back. I had a turbo`d B5.5 estate which I sold in September 2009 (to jamesyouprat) for a cheaper to run car which turned out to be a mk5 Polo 1.4 TDI. The little Polo is very cheap to run but I recently drove my Dad`s mk4 Golf GTi and it brought back the memories and creature comforts of my old Passat. My Polo is very basic although it does have e/w. The reason I bought it was the £35 a year road tax and 65mpg

I was rolling on Phaetons and kept them as I had a feeling I would own another Passat one day. I could go on Parker`s but I would rather hear from you guys about B5 and B5.5 diesel saloons. What does it cost to tax yours for a year and what mpg do you get? How many miles would you do on £20 driving mainly motorway and dual carriageways?

I`m thinking in the future maybe give the Polo to the Mrs as she is currently learning and I could buy another Passat..

I had a look on Parker`s after I made this thread and just as well as nobody has posted any figures. Had a look on autotrader to, looks like I could pick up a fairly decent b5.5 for around the £2k mark, the road tax is pretty much £205 on all the diesels no matter what bhp or year 1996-2005

I prefered how the wagon drove on the 16`s over the 18`s

2001 onwards (b5.5) tdis are £155 a year road tax :D (well at least i know my last one was and my b6 is the same).

as for economy i know mine was a 130bhp estate and on a motorway/dual carrigeway run would happily return 50mpg.

Yeah I remember your car. Looks like these guys are putting the bend on your arm, best give in and scratch that itch.

Hope you come back over to the darkside soon.

Ohh and by the way your Polo has more creature comforts than my B3 as I am on manual windows
