Paintwork/carparks/dings

Hello, haven't posted much (if ever) before, but this forum has always been a source of helpful advice, so thanks one and all.
I bought my Passat b8 GT estate new late 2017.
I love the car, absolutely love it.
Getting into it today, I have the same emotions as day one !
It even still smells new, maybe the leather seats.

I'm wondering though if anyone else suffers like I do.
If I have to park in car parks, you can guarantee there will be a ding/chip
somewhere on a door crease line. Always get one.

I'm wondering is this a design problem, uncaring drivers or just bad luck ?
I had to buy a bottle of Dr Colour chip within the first week of owning the car, after a 4x4 beside me had opened a rear door
straight onto my rear door crease. I was distraught.
The bottle of touch up paint is now down to 3/4 left
Does anyone else suffer like me or is it just bad luck ?
