Electric tailgate opening up in its own.

I have a 2018 Passat estate with an electric tailgate and twice now, the tailgate has opened up by itself.
Both occasions I had driven the car, turned ignition off but not got out of the car. After 10/15 minutes still sitting In car, the hazards gave a quick double flash and then the tailgate opened.
Is this a known ‘thing’ or one of those intermittent things? Car is only 4 months old so in warranty but wanted to understand If this was a known issue before I go to VW.
