Timing belt

I am looking to buy a 64 plate 2.0 TDI with 104,000 on the clock and have been told that it hasn't had a timing belt change as it doesn't need one until 120,000 miles. I thought they needed one at 80k and have now read somewhere that it is 60k or 5 years. Can anyone advise what the proper mileage for replacing these things really is?
