B8 Brake debris

Post by BruceABZ »

Hi guys, Last month I drove from Aberdeen down to Edinburgh, 130 miles. At the end of the journey the Brakes were sounding like they were down to the Metal. at 5,000 miles! It has been cold and the gritters had been out. It was dark when I left the car, but when I returned a week later I looked at the brakes, The Pads were all good with plenty of life, but the discs looked rutted, (Grooved). It looked as if there had been grit sitting on the brakes whilst driving. On my return to Aberdeen the braking got quieter again. but subsequently each morning the brakes were initially sounding rough, until I had done another couple of hundred miles. The discs are now looking better again, but was wondering if I had been unlucky, or whether the pads are poorly designed. There looks like a bevelled edge leading into the contact area of the pads. Maybe there had been a small stone on it. Thoughts?
