Scratched with rear brake pads

Has any of you guys had taken a closer look at their rear brake pads?
Mine are only at 6000 miles and the rear brake pads are looking very scratched. Please take a look at the photos and share what is your situation. I went to VW Dealership for this and they said this is normal which honestly shocked me.
