Just ordered my 1.4 150 SE Business DSG Estate

Post by kevinyork » Mon Sep 03, 2018 3:33 pm

Just placed my order for the above in Pyrite Silver. This will be our first “car” for 9 years after buying pick ups due to having our small business and the associated VAT and Tax benefits. We are 90% retiring at the end of Dec so only need to carry a few parcels a short distance a couple of times a week so the estate will more than suffice plus lots of room for our dog.

Local dealer was next to useless and said no Passats can be ordered as they are all under an embargo but the dealer that drive the deal passed us to was more specific and said it was just some variants affected and not the one we wanted.

Looking forward to a bit more comfort and better MPG. We ordered it via Drive the Deal with a discount of about 26% which we think is a great price. Delivery quoted at 18 weeks so a fair old wait and I’m bad at waiting....l Dealer is unsure if it will be the 2018 or 2019 refresh model and even mentioned the 1.4 might be switched for the 1.5. Not too bothered which year version it is but would be nice to know for sure. The order tracker shows the 1.4 as ordered but don’t know if that is going to change.

Does anyone know how soon the order tracking shows a build date? Also dealer offers paint and upholstery protection at a “discounted” £245. Is this worth it?

Thanks in advance.

Don’t go for the protection.
You can buy the products for a tenth of that price so even ‘discounted’ it’s not a good deal as they won’t spend the time that is necessary

Ordered mine 2 - 3 weeks ago and was given a Dec/Jan estimate for delivery. 22 weeks sounds about right.

Being a factory order your car will be a 1.5, the 1.4 has been discontinued as the new model has been tested for WLTP emissions standards - your dealer really ought to know that.

Otherwise it’s business as usual on the spec.

I queried the spec with the dealer and he said it would be the 1.4 with a GPF fitted. I think Skoda still use those alongside the 1.5. I’ve read a few comments that the 1.5 lacks a bit of punch compared to the 1.4. despite being the same on paper. Not really sure. Would be happy to get the 2019 moderate tweaks but the comments on the 1.5 are a bit worrying.

I ordered my 1.4 around mid July, and was quoted end Nov delivery. Order tracker show it’s at step 2 now for the past week. Really hope it will be on time!

Mine went to step 2 about a week after ordering. I guess it means nothing until they assign a build date. Be very interested in feedback on whether you get a 1.4 or they switch it for a 1.5.

For some reason you can still factory order the 1.4 despite the 1.5 being WLTP tested - you might well end up with the 1.4 at this rate.

Mine has been on the second stage ( with the factory ) for two weeks now. As per, wish they would give a build date. Still don't know if it will be 1.4 or 1.5.

Apparently I will not get a build week until about 8 - 10 weeks after the order acceptance date. My order was accepted 0n 28/08 and delivery estimate was 15 - 16 weeks, making delivery due around 11th - 18th December.
I wopuldn't mind betting it will be nearer the mid to end of January date.
MIne is the GT model, I don't know if that makes a difference.

I ordered a 1.4 TSI GT Estate in mid Aug and was told lead time was 20 weeks.
Online chat this morning have told me the unconfirmed build week is week 6, early Feb.

Just had an unofficial build week date from my dealer - week 48.
It seems that VW have got their backsides into gear and delivery times are getting back to a more normal time scale.

By video link with my dealer, confirmed build week of week 50, but I wouldn't mind betting that gets changed before too long. 8-| 8-| 8-|

Same for me too.
At this rate they won’t be made until Jan, with dealers in Feb, and then I guess it would make sense to decline delivery until March for the new reg. ☹️☹️

I KNEW IT!!! Just had a call from the salesman, build week is now WEEK 08. Add another month for delivery etc. and I will now be getting my cay sometime mid March2019. He also said that another customer who ordered a Tiguan last April will have to wait 15 months from time of order for his car.

I noticed that the new car is fitted with self sealing tyres. Are these run flats or do they actually self seal small punctures?
I have not heard of these before.

They have a layer of sticky stretchy rubber on the inside which prevents/reduces loss of pressure if the tyre is penetrated - you may notice a small loss but that's all.
You can carry on driving but I'm not sure how long for and at what speed.
All good so far....but they can't be repaired
