Lane keep Assist Retrofit?

Post by brayj2 » Fri Mar 09, 2018 5:09 pm

Hello All,

Came across this on Kufatec! Anyone know what would be involved in coding this? Vagcom? Also it says will only work on the specific front camera type (I have ACC on mine) so hopefully it would work.

https://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/diagn ... -passat-b8

Coding Interface for retrofitting Active Lane Assist
After coding, Active Lane Assist can be activated via the multifunctional display+ (MFD+) or the CAR menu
Just connect the adapter (dongle) to the OBD interface of the vehicle - Done!
The interface adjusts the retrofit fully automatically to the existing vehicle coding

Note:

only suitable for vehicles with front camera (PR-No.: QK1)
The diagnostic interface can only be used for one vehicle
Compatible with following models:
VW Passat B8

Anyone help with this?

Cheers

Doesn't ACC use radar - not a camera? See -

Modern cars are becoming a joke, ever more ways to enable people to be lazy and unattentive drivers. Theres too many of them on the motorway already.

I had the pleasure of driving a lorry with lane assist this week I thought their was something wrong with the radio it buzzed through the speakers on whichever side I crossed a white line and its hard not to cross the lines in cumbria I had to phone the office to ask how to turn it off. It peed me off as I was taught to make the road as straight as possible not to follow the lines so yet more technology that isnt needed and I will say it again if you need your car to tell you how to drive or take over for you if it thinks you have lost control give your licence up and use a bus.

Thanks for the replies! Yes the system would use the camera in the rear view mirror. The systems aren't designed to make people lazy drivers, they help save lives. You may not 'need' it as most of us in this world are competent drivers, however there will be situations or variables when driving that are unavoidable which is where the safety features can be life saving. If someone falls asleep at the wheel it will be these systems that stop the cars crashing into other motorists, so even though I understand your points, you cannot argue against safety with the fact you think these systems are 'annoying' or make people lazy.

meh, if someone falls asleep at the wheel I would argue darwinian evolution and hope they just do themselves.

All this stuff just makes it easy for people to push their luck, the law says you are responsible for your vehicle and any offences perpetrated in its upkeep, legality, safety and use, infallably.

Making people feel warm, fuzzy and secure staying at the wheel longer isnt helping.

Thread revival, sorry...

Has anybody done this? I know that you need the DLA/Traffic sign camera and then it’s just coding. A module is available for £99 to code it but just wondering if anybody had re-coded or bought this module.

Hey buddy not really investigated this further yet! I have ACC on mine but not sure about Traffic sign camera, I have the speed limits shown in the nav but that's done on the satellite signal right?
