Which new diesel estate would you recommend?

Post by Chopperman » Sat Apr 07, 2018 8:06 pm

Thinking of buying a newer model than my 03 diesel estate.
Which year or model would you recommend?

I'd give her some 'trivago' .

Also consider the Skoda Superb as it shares the same MQB platform as Passat B8 .

Thanks gazwould.
I have been considering a Skoda.
What is MQB?
Is that the 2.0TDI ?
Any particular year?
4 motion would be good as we could sell our 4x4 that we need.

MQB is one vesion of the new global platform for making cars VAG is moving to.

Its claimed to be a big improvement over the previous cars. Might even be good news for modding and improving eventually.

Had a few Beemers. Loved my last 5 series but too many problems with the engineering designs on them now for a hands on fixer like me

They are no different to any other car on the road today.
You need a code reader for all cars but you don't have to change the cam-belt with a bm.

To be honest I swapped back from my 525D to my B5.5 Passat, reason ultimately was cost.

I never had issues working on it, I changed the inlet manifold, deleted the swirl flaps, de-cat and airbag suspension, it was actually easy to do as all the bolts coming off were a lot easier than the Passat of the same age.

I love my Passat more than the Beemer it just feels to me more like a drivers car

The only thing those 3.0 525D are good for is Stage 2 .
