GTI International 27th & 28th June - Now with pics

Well what a minter!!! With all the crazy ar5e weather we have been having, I was resinged to the fact that this would be another wet show for me, making it my third in a row.

How wrong was I??

I am typing this in complete agony, due to the true bloke style of sunburnt shoulders!!!

On the way there I drove through sun, clouds, fog (on the M1), and a light drizzle. I really could not make up my mind what we were in for. It seemed to take an age to get to junction 20 combined with the fact that I didn't hook up with an Dub's on the way, it made for a very tedious start and unsure start to the day.

As I came to the round about just off the motorway, a blue, debadged Passat shot across in front of me. I followed him all the way in. Which was quite funny as neither of us were using sat nav's so kept having to keep dog for the handily placed signs.

I pulled into the gates and was pointed down the green route. I was now alone again, so I never did find out who was in that blue Passat. I had to wait for a 'lead' car to come and guide us in. I was in a line of 6 golfs, being lead by a yellow lupo!! To say I was geting excited was an understatement.....

As we drove along, it felt a little strange as we were lead along a really bumpy road infront of some old buildings, with a fence on the other side of us. Suddenly we were on a runway, with planes and cars everywhere. I was so tempted to 'boot' it, but resisited. I was stopped by another gaggle of marshals, who directed me to the stand. In my sheer excitement I did not hear properly what he said to me. So got lost and had to go make my way back to him. Any whoo I managed to find our stand. I was the 7th Passat to arrve, no more arrived after me.

I couldn't get out of the car quick enough..................................................

After a quick bite to eat, and the decision to not bother with the gazeebo, I set off to the toilet!! I have the bladder of a 70 year old, with the volume of a 7year old.

We made our way to the show and shine and the main traders area. I have to say that there was a bit of a poor level of shopping, me being a bit of a girl I do like a bit of a shop!!! The darlings decided they wanted an ice cream so we made our way back. We secured an ice cream and sat next to the DB drag stand. What a delight was about to greet me. Now I had been looking forward to the DB drag stand a little bit, as I have a thing for loud stereos. Nothing could have prepared me for the sound that came out of the black Passat.

I am pretty sure that he is a member on here, if so I need to know what that track was that you playing!!! A link to the vidoe is below. Now to say this was loud would be the biggest understatement of the day. Check out the roof 'jumping' in the video. Seeing that in the flesh was feekin' wicked!!

I want it, I want it, I want it, I want it!!!!!!!!!!

We then hasd a quick visit back to the UKP stand to find that one of us had already departed. We then progressed over to the other side of the 'strip'. There was some nice stands/metal on that side. I think I saw Carmageddon on a trade stand, he was 'in deep' with a punter so walked on. I stopped at the side of the strip, just for a look mind. Boy could I have stayed there all day. Unfortunatley the darlings did not share my enthusiasm............. Off to the bouncy castle!!!

£4 down and 5 minutes later we were mobile again.

Another short visit to the car and chat with Mr & Mrs Lawsey, we set off to have a good scout around the show and shine. There was a really good range of cars, from minted MK5 golfs to half ratted Scircco's.

A near day ending disaster was norrowly avoided, a big thanks to Mrs Lawsey for that one! Katie still has the 'magic' plaster on now............

All in all a good show, as always though it leaves you wanting more.
