how to remove baked on brake dust

hi,

has anyone got any tips on removing baked on brake dust? ive got a little bit starting on my alloys and i dont want it there!!! also got a set of r32's on a golf that are quite bad. ive tried all sorts of chemicals even a steamer on the golf but cant shift it. dont really want to use anything to abrasive.

any ideas????
