Pitting on my alloys

My cars been stood still for a few weks now (Engine work/notworking)
One iof my alloys has got pitting/pitted :roll: all around the lip. My first question is wht only this one(The car and wheels have been kept very clean)? But more importantly how/whats the best thing to clean it up? My old man told me to get some Autosoll Metal Polish, which has helped but the weel still has some marks and looks duller than the others :cry:
