In the unlikely event that anyone wishes to repair their defective door latch module, rather than fit a £20 one from eBay, (most of which seem excellent), this might be of interest.
The microswitch most given to failure, due to mechanical wear of its actuator, is the one that tells the system whether the door is open or closed. Failure of this switch causes a number of effects, most noticeable being the failure to operate of the door 'puddle light', and the 'door open' warning on the dash.
The part number for that switch is:
Left. 3BD998785
Right. 3BD998786
They are mirror image so be sure to buy the correct one, or a L/R pair, (some listing are for a pair of the same switch).
Personally I would just change the latch mechanism, but that does not necessarily suit everyone, so this info might be of help if you are feeling more adventurous!
