03 golf gear problem

Hi all any help would be great.

Started off yesterday that when trying to get reverse it just wasnt wanting to getinto. Now today after stopped at lighhts i have somehow not got first or second gear but i have got 3,4,5,6, and reversde now working?

Any ideas what wrong?
