Sorry, the Turbo is much louder and whistles when it's doing whatever it's doing when I apply revs

Re: Normal to start a regen after start up?
Had this happen a few times now though, the coolant temp seems to rise quickly when it's doing this thing. A good run down the bypass for 15 minutes sorts it out.

Normal to start a regen after start up?
Hello! I noticed this morning that my car appeared to instantly start a regeneration within a minute of start up, is this normal. I am pretty sure it was doing one as the revs were high, idle a little lumpy and I can hear the Turbo spooling up and down. Just didn't think it would happen after a cold...

Are you sure it wasn't doing a regen for the dpf?

B6 air con temperature
Hello! What's people's opinions on the passats air con temperature? I had mine re gassed a year ago, can't remember what it was like then but it doesn't seem ice cold. My old vectra used to get icy cold but my passat is just cool ish! It's working but just not great. I can hear hissing when first tu...

Re: Bumper cut out
The width, front to back measuring it including the curve from the outside is about 162mm. The length is 317mm. The depth does not include the 3 lugs on mine which obviously are there to keep it in position.

Sod the how many miles to a Tenner, prices vary!
I do thrash it but would sooner pay extra on fuel that replace the dpf!

Is this oil any good?
Right, seen some quantum oil on e bay it's the long life III stuff. Is this OK for a 2.0tdi common rail, 2008?
20 quid for 4 litres seems cheap?
Thanks

Steering feels notchy at low speeds
Hello! Not sure if it's a common fault with the passat but the steering doesnt feel smooth. When travelling a low speeds and turning onto my drive I have to steer in late therefore turning the steering really quickly, which feels juddery. It doesn't feel like anything mechanical steering wise though...

Re: Can the cr engine timing be checked in vcds?
Yeah it was done a year ago, all was fine but I suspect it was set just within limits. Had a call from my local enthusiastic indy where my car is today and the timing is out as the pins won't locate so he is going to adjust it.

Re: Can the cr engine timing be checked in vcds?
Since found out block 51 on vcds gives me my idle stabilization in degrees, mine spikes to over 6 degrees on full load when cold, below 5 when warm so within the plus/minus 5 degrees figure which I think is meant to be OK. I think my timing must be out when the engine is could, too far minus which I...

I doubt that would work with a westfalia as the way the Electrics are designed on a hinge, I have the westfalia myself.

Can the cr engine timing be checked in vcds?
Hello I suspect my timing maybe slightly out as I get a fault come up on a cold engine when giving it some heavy foot. Not ideal I know but at least it's shown up a fault! It's fine once it's been ran for a minute or two. I have read that you can use the torsion value on the pd engines to check the ...

Re: Lack of power
The actuator works on a vacuum, you can test this yourself by locating the n75 valve which should be on your bulkhead and remove the hosing that leads to your actuator, but only remove from the n75 valve end. Suck on the pipe, this will tell you if the actuator is able to hold a vacuum, basically yo...

Ring vw, that's where I got mine from, yours being an estate might require an extra part. I had to pay at £80 for my bumper parts.

Re: B6 estate towbar
Hi, you will need to buy the entire lower section of bumper, your existing lower black section of bumper is completely removed and replaced with the towing one, plus you will have to buy the plastic cover that is removed for when fitting the towbar, plus 2 securing screws. Could well be sticking Turbo veins amongst other things but you really need it plugged in and see what the fault is.

Re: Sloppy gear stick, struggling to get gears
Thanks for the replies. There is a plastic bit on top of the gear box which one of the cables connects to, it had broken.
New part ordered which has since been changed due to maybe the issue I have had!

I have sparrows knee caps! But I might be a little hard when changing. Could it be in the gearbox or maybe the rods/,linkages on the top.

Sloppy gear stick, struggling to get gears
Hello!
My manual 2008 tdi 6 speed has developed a sloppy gear stick and I am struggling to get gears, reverse is non existant. In 2nd the gear stick moves from side to side like in neutral, there is no resistance!
What on earth have I broke now!?
