Yes, it definitely can be set with vcds lite unregistered version. I have done it to b5 Passat, b5.5 Passat and golf MK4, never a single issue.BIG F@ TW@ wrote: ↑Thu Mar 10, 2022 11:40 pm Can I ask, can it be set up with VCDS Lite?

Re: DSG or Manual
We have a 2018 B8 manual with the 2.0 TDI 150 BHP engine. The car has now done 35K and I still find the gearbox a bit notchy and no where near as slick as Mazda's and Ford's we have owned. It does not encourage any sort of spirited driving. Only ever test driven a DSG Skoda Superb and that seemed a...

Ok thanks I'm managed to get all the tempts hot enough. So I think thermostat is ok. tried to get it to run regen process but nothing happens so maybe will have use a different tool. Can't get it to regen on the Motor way because the engine management kicks in and cuts power. All the little problem...

Re: What mpg are you getting from a b5.5 auto pd avb
I would say that sounds quite good, especially for automatic transmission. It very much matters what sort of roads and traffic you are mostly getting. City traffic with constant start-stop traffic will reduce MPG significantly. My passat was manual, but I was getting about 200 miles more out of tank...

Fingers crossed that's the issue.
I remember years ago I replaced CV joint but didn't push it fully on driveshaft, so overall length was increased. Noticed engine vibrations going through chassis right away.

Splits in them, engine sitting with one side lower than other, but not always that's easy to notice.

Re: Not good vibrations
So I've reset all the mounts again just to make sure. The vibration goes away all the time it's on jack stands, as soon as its lowered back down the vibration comes back but more from the steering wheel now. It is worse at idle and high revs but is there throughout the rev range All of the suspensi...

Re: lower front suspension arm
That's a good question, there has been fair few conversations about them. Even some eBay links, but what's available at the moment I'm not sure. And be careful what sleeve size you get, because there was cheange over from 20mm ball joint to 16mm ball joint around 2003 production year. 54 plate shoul...

Re: lower front suspension arm
There's a sleeve insert in hub carrier. Sometimes it's getting stuck on old control arm ball joint. Make sure that's not the case. Another thing I remember, both times I replaced control arms on my b5 Passat, I reused old nuts for lower front control arms, because the ones coming with new arms never...

Re: 🤦♂️Sump bolt cross threaded on the female side
You can buy repair kit on eBay/Amazon. Kit contains 6 plugs and thread tap one size bigger than was previous thread. I have used it previously. Didn't even require drilling, simply cut in new thread which was 1 mm bigger I believe and use plug from kit. Working perfectly. Other option is helicoil. B...

Re: Cloudy Headlights?
When I had my b5 Passat, I used to polish lenses every two years, because that's how long it lasts before starting to get cloudy again. I used wet sandpaper, start with rougher like 1000 grid then go up 1500, 2000, 3000. Then use abrasive polishing paste like 3M or similar. Ideally you want buffing ...

Re: How do I disable H/L levelling?
Well replacing front and rear sensors didn't sort the problem. Seems to be linked to the steering input somehow. No dash warning. Turn right and the lights go down then left and back up again!! The lights go left and right and dip/main OK. So until I can fathom out what's happening, I'll have to di...

I have heard rumours, that if you have Alfa, you need two of them, because one is always broken. Fingers crossed it's not like this.

There must be something wrong with headlights still, even stock bulbs should be able to give some more light on the road than candle.

Re: Today I will mostly be doing this.....
Looks leaking for good while. Was clutch slipping as well? You know what, I hadn't noticed it slipping. I don't drive with a heavy foot so it may have been for a while. I think I've pre bought the wrong type of seal. There's a choice of two and I chose the wrong type, is the one below the carrier a...

Have you taken headlights apart, because otherwise you can't really see projector reflector.
I took them apart on my beemer, and the state was shocking.

Re: Headlights are rubbish
Projector reflectors most likely have faded. Lost their chrome mirror finish, common with age. Solution is either replacing projector units with some aftermarket ones, reconditioning chrome plating on existing ones or replacing headlights with new ones.

Definitely worth doing crank seal while there.
