Re: Coolant temp
Ok thanks I'm managed to get all the tempts hot enough. So I think thermostat is ok. tried to get it to run regen process but nothing happens so maybe will have use a different tool. Can't get it to regen on the Motor way because the engine management kicks in and cuts power. All the little problem...

Re: Coolant temp
Ok thanks. The gauge on the car says 90 or just over but then when I read it on laptop to try start a regen it's only shows max 79 so I don't know if the temp sensor is playing up or the dials not correct even at lower temps the dial doesn't match what the diag temp tells me Yeah these cars tend to...

Re: Coolant temp
Yes the thermostat can cause this if it is stuck open fully or partially. The coolant will just be constantly circulating to the radiator instead of only doing so when the engine reaches higher temperatures and the thermostat opens to let it. You then get much more cooling than is needed which will ...

Re: Issues
P0299 is an underboost code and suggests a vacuum leak or a restriction in the VNT mechanism of the exhaust side of the turbo (it has a variable boost control inside using vanes and an actuator ring controlled by a vacuum actuator fed vacuum by the N75 valve). A pin hole in the actuator membrane / d...

Re: B6 auto-dip interior mirror surround wanted
As ever, life is not simple. The surround for the mirror 'stalk' is, as stated, in two halves, each of which has its own part number, - although anyone selling the pair second hand may well quote only one number. There are different types of surround and mirror, depending on whether or not your car...

Re: B6 auto-dip interior mirror surround wanted
Thanks Mitch, I hadn't seen the 'wanted' section. I guess it's probably the light sensor cover; it's in two halves and entirely surrounds the back of the mirror. I'm fairly sure there were two screws in there when I removed the old pieces (a long time ago...). Rick. There's a full rear view mirror ...

Re: 2010 B6 folding mirrors?
First thing to remember is that not all the options available for a trim set would have been selected by the original first owner. The Highline for example has a finite number of included and available options. Perhaps the folding mirrors option was not selected from factory? Using VCDS it can be re...

Re: B6 auto-dip interior mirror surround wanted
Hi All, am in need of the two halves which clip together (and are then held by two screws) around the auto-dipping rear-view interior mirror. If anyone is breaking a B6, please drop me a line - have looked on Ebay but can't find any. Not bothered about colour, but must be undamaged. Cheers, Rick. G...

Great not what I wanted to hear lol thanks Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk Takes software like VCDS to set an actuator up properly as you have make many adjustments and check readings until you find the best balanced setting. Garrett recommend a dedicated flow bench is used which a lot of turb...

Re: B6 engine undertray
Passat 3C2s don't have a spongy cover over parts under the engine, the subframe is aluminium, so won't rust, and the undertray is entirely plastic except for the fittings (which can get rusty but are cheap and easy to replace). The Zafiras had spongy "jackets" either covering the sump or s...

Re: 08 B6 2.0 TDI shaking under acceleration
I would not be happy with those injector readings except for number 2 which has now faulted. As mentioned before there are a number of things that can be checked before condemning the injectors. Valve timing and fuelling (other Measuring Blocks) can be viewed using VagCom/ VCDS plus state of the DPF...

Re: Passat injector?
You need to see live data from measuring block 018 (VagCom/VCDS diagnostics recommended). The injection quantity readings will also give you an indication of the general health of each injector and highlight those where more fuelling change is necessary to balance the smoothness of the idle. +/- 0.5...

Re: B6 2010 Underboost issue
"ODB scanning"? A number of simple ODB code readers will not be able to interrogate the individual modules under which fault codes are stored. Therefore a VAG compatible scan tool or something more "professional", should be used if there is any doubt (VagCom, VCDS, Autel, Snap On...

Re: Door trim removal and replacement (external)
It's a real phaff! Involves heat applied to the strip (gently and for a while) to try to loosen the bond of the sealant and then careful prying with non metallic objects, trim removers as it stuck on with double sided tape. A lot of used trim gets ruined by the removal process so getting a really de...

Re: 2010 B6 2.0l Highline estate DRLs retro fit
Thanks for that - by front spotlights do you mean the front foglights? If so, I could get the local VAG stealer to do the coding perhaps. Yes the front fog lights. Mine are DRLs which are on with the side lights until the headlights come on at which point they all switch off (as they should). I sti...

Re: 2010 B6 2.0l Highline estate DRLs retro fit
Anyone done this? Do you have front spotlights? If so it is only a software coding process to enable them to act as DRLs. You would need a diagnostic tool with programming capabilities such as VCDS (VagCom). Or you can go down the route of fitting more expensive replacements instead of stock front ...

Was able to get my car onto a vag com, injector number 1 is over fuelling and number 4 is trying to compensate, its strange how this doesnt throw any sort of code off, had to go into the live data and look at the readings and my chap could see it was out of spec to diagnose the issue, going to thro...
