Re: Front bumper respray?
None of the quality painters I use would do it that cheap, materials alone would eat well into that price. £200 to £250 seems about right

Re: Boot rust issue VW aware!!
It is not the dealer who has the decision, I am still arguing with VW UK over this matter, they say only the dealer can offer the extra 25% and that as a goodwill gesture due to customer loyalty to the garage,

You tube, why does the mention of that name fill me with the fear we might be asked to put the job right one day. A professional company would charge £50 for a professional job, anything else will not last or look mickey mouse without a lot of time and effort.

Re: How strong is glass ? Warning to everybody !!
I completely disagree with being able to break a toughened side glass with your fist if hit in the correct place, total piffle. There again I have only 25 years of repairing vehicle glass to fall back on as experience, so I could be wrong, lets have some proof rather than internet myths. You will no...

Thanks for that reply Adam, I would imagine there are lots of guys driving nice Passats around with annoying car park dents in them that do not know they can get them removed for very little money.

The dealers take the pictures and send them off to warranty and they make the decision. Maybe they are getting tougher.

As a forum we should have the strength in numbers to influence manufacturers decisions if only in a very small way.

Do they all have FSH with the dealer networK, I must say I could do with some help on this one, if we can set a standard the others with the same problem will have something to come back on.

Still only 75% after going higher up the line, even spoke to another VW dealer who said without a dealer contribution they will not go higher.
Not finished yet though.

Re: How-to DIY alloy wheel refurbishment
I would have just thinned the Iso free and put it through the gun, have sprayed it outside in minus figures. Also remember all this talk of Iso and Iso free, seems they are both no good for you, bit of a myth going on. 10 out of 10 for effort though, must say years of doing alloys sometimes as part ...

Re: what would you do if?
Well so far two to one says lie or steal, personally I would write a proper letter addressed to the Chairman of the company explaining the situation and let him decide if your honesty warranted a reward. I cannot abide stealing or conning, and the people that condone it would be the first and loudes...

As I said illegal. This Regulation amendment now clearly rules out any tinted films being applied to driver windows (Front doors). The Regulation states 70% of visible light must pass through the drivers windows including any other substrate fitted to the glass. Many people misunderstand the regulat...

Re: Window tinting in essex
All 7 windows, so your car is now illegal! 70% of light hitting windows in front of B pillar must be able to go through, from the factory only about 73% can, so even a clear film can send it over the top. I know for sure your night vision will be compromised.

Adam Certainly we can sometimes get better that I describe depending on size of pit etc. it was just a general idea. When finished a windscreen repair should when viewed from the outside resemble nothing more than a dried raindrop, this should be extremely hard ...

Re: windows steaming up!! Best product to use
Certainly I have seen 3 today in Boston Lincs, the recirculated air button when used to often or for any length of time will cause the car to get very damp inside. it is great when sitting behind a smokey old motor but left on it will just recycle old air and create a lot of condensation. When they ...

Whilst I agree a clever person can make money from it by employing people, it is also hard work compared with the other services I mentioned. Also £ per hour is not so good, and on days like today, no thanks.

Windscreen repair is not free, you WILL end up paying for it. It is very lucrative and if you are talking about the insurance market do your homework, only 35% of vehicle in the UK have glass insurance. PDR is recognised as the highest earner in the motor trade for hands on guys. £40 a panel, most ...
