Re: BG Premium 245 diesel cleaner

In my experience they all do improve things. And this I'm saying after checking injector adaption values before and after, not just based on placebo effect just because something been added to fuel. My favourite one is liqui moly diesel purge, and I have managed twice to bring back to life injectors...

Re: Remapping a W8

Usually remapping naturally aspired engine will give very little benefits, so not sure if there's point to do it. About LPG, if it's running on LPG now, don't think that LPG will affect ability to get it remapped, I know S4 and RS4, which been modified and giving some decent power while still runnin...

Re: Engine hesitation

Usually smoke test is carried out to detect leaks at intake system and vacuum system for petrol cars. Don't think it's really possible to use on vacuum system on diesels ( because it's separate system on diesels), reason why I say that is there are fair few solenoids, which when closed, might hide l...

Re: Annoying Brake Pad Rattle fixed...

Thick pad paint is quite common issue. Which can cause brake binding as well, due to pad being stuck and not returning after brakes been applied. One more thing to inspect is front caliper outside spring. If that's not tensioning caliper towards carrier bracket enough, brake pads might rattle as wel...

Replace all door lock mechanism, not that pricey and at least it will definitely work. Of course you never know for how long time.

Re: Annoying Brake Pad Rattle fixed...

What condition are your caliper carriers? If they have worn out badly where brake pads are sitting on them, they will rattle. Another question, how much heat silicon pipe can carry? Won't be surprised if they melt after some aggressive braking.

Re: B5.5 Passat front wheel drive to 4 motion.

As told above, floor pan is totally different, so it's a lot of welding involved. Another thing- rear subframe is getting hard to find.
People been thinking about this, but usually it never go away further than just an idea. Probably it's not worth doing.

Re: Moved onto a B7 from a B5.5, some DTC help please

I always clear all faults, before of course making some notice of what are they, and then I'm checking what's coming back. Sometimes it's just some random error, which you don't get back for years.

Re: URGENT!! Rear brake adjustment

Because you are using old discs, pads need time to bed in. On beginning it's common to have excessive heat and little bit of brake binding, because usually edges of brake disc is sitting higher out than rest of the disc. Once pad has worn down to the same shape as is brake disc surface, brake bindin...

Most garages simply won't bother with split boots, because there's very good chances that it won't last, so no garage what to take responsibility for something done wrong way. Re: VW T4 - alternator problems

Yes, you need new alternator. Who ever suggested to replace regulator, didn't thought that melted plastic could mean excessive heat for some reason and most likely alternator was already toasted before new regulator was fitted. From excessive heat I believe windings on rotor goes short and that's en...

Re: Car won't start. Then jump it and fine no matter how many times start stop.

Alternator failing to charge sometimes. Not always they gave up immediately, sometimes it takes like fair bit of time until they die completely, but you should get battery light on dashboard when it doesn't charge. Another thing to inspect is battery terminals, actually I would start with this one. ...

Re: My B5.5 and I.. In it for the long haul...

About Passat door cards, unless they are something special/rare, I would suggest to replace them. I replaced my fabric ones with highline leather. Condition was very good. It was long ago, but since that I've seen fair few sets of door cards going for around £50, so that's probably cheaper than any ...

Re: My B5.5 and I.. In it for the long haul...

That's quite impressive mileage on cheap control arms. I always used to get 40k+ miles when first arms started to show signs of slight movement. But being on pretty low set coilovers and 17" tyres, it definitely didn't help suspension for long lasting, so can't complain. And seeing branded arms...

ray112- there is in the Passat compared to a golf with the same 2.0tdi! There is far more space for air to circulate in there is what I was trying to get across, rather than a spacious residence for the engine with lots of space for its family to play.😀 Of course if you compare smaller car to bigge...

I can believe that from cold. This morning at 13 degrees C my B6 took 1 mile of slow traffic up to 40mph and 9 miles of 70mph to reach 90 degrees C oil temp, and an indicated 43mpg. These modern tdis are very efficient and there is a lot of space under the bonnet to help cool things. The temp dropp...

Change air filter, bad air filter will reduce air quantity getting in cylinders, and less air means more smoke.

I remember that older Audi and VW needed red power steering fluid, which most likely was ATF. But since 90ties, Audi/VW is using green CHF power steering fluid. What's the difference between b...
