Re: cleaning tools

Same.

But...

My garage and tools are either in one of two states;

1, Like a new pin you could eat your dinner off.

or

2, In total mayhem where it usually takes longer to find a tool than it does to do the job :hyst

I'm sure that is more bi-polar than OCD :hyst

Re: rapid help needed (got to reassemble)

It is all to do with the taper insert, this gives the different sizes. In the factory I'd suspect that the arm comes with the taper insert and the upright is 'bare'. They may have had a mix at the changeover so as to use up what was in the parts bin. Pics below taken when I did my arms, a nightmare ...

Re: Climatronic. Do I need it re-gassed?

I'd say a re-gas is in order. Exactly the same for me in my 04 TDI, just had that done. VCDS was showing an evaporator temp of only 12c when the ambient was 21c before the regas, after it was 5c Chatting with the A/C blokey (who I know well and trust) he reckons it was quite normal given that the la...

Fair enough but it has to be a very informal arrangement as if the inland revenue caught up with them there would be trouble for them and possibly you.

Re: mpg problems

I'd be rather annoyed at being given that as you will be paying the company car tax on it. Two things bring up the annoyance; 1, It is 11 years old, and poo. 2, You will be paying a lot more tax than you would by driving a cleaner (emissions) newer car as the tax is based on CO2 emmisions. Seems lik...

I know,and also despair.

Where I live the Cons always get in so any vote otherwise is a waste.

Hopefully though UKIP will build up enough momentum to have them worried.

Best to take it to somewhere with a Hunter Hawkeye alignment system and more importantly that they know how to use it. So many places have no idea. If you are close go to wheels in motion in Chesham and get Mr Bones to have a look. http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/wheels-alignment.php Cannot recomme...

Re: Cloudy windows

Every car I've had has done this. It does happen slowly though and never gets that bad as I clean the glass fairly often. I believe it is a combination of chemicals leaching out of plastics in the car and any residue for cleaning. Best way I've found to clean is using 2 microfibres, one damp one dry...

Yep. If the boot is that bad I'd replace the joint as well or you may end up doing it anyway in a couple of months. With the Q-Drive joints, the joint is fine but the retaining clips are cr*p. Get a separate one. Can't remember all the part numbers etc but a 'search' on this forum should bring them...

To all of the above.

Totally agree and that is why I like UKIP so much, they are at least talking about change.

I'd love to this countries dependence on banking diminish and the Northern Industrial heartlands working again, making stuff.

Who voted labour by the way? :hyst

Re: 1.9 tdi 130 working itself .

My bet would be that the EGR valve is sticking open.

I would take the vac line off the EGR, plug the open end of the line with a Golf 't' or bolt etc.

See if that improves things. Will take seconds to do.

UKIP for me, why;

The main 3 are un-distinguishable from one another.
The main 3 do not listen and have never asked us about Europe
The main 3 are not ever going to do anything about immigration
The main 3 are all self serving elitists who care nothing for the common man.
