Re: Power folding wing mirrors
Done this not so long ago on our SEL estate. Ignore any advice on part numbers for the modules, I went down this route before my eyes were opened. I ended up scouring scrapyards, I wanted to see something that had the actual door switch with folding mirrors so I knew I was getting the correct module...

Re: HELP Installing Foglights and Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
I fitted front fog lights to ours and it was a bit of a pain to start with (as is anything the first time). I went about it the wrong way, I should have just bought a full kit to start with. I bought lights and covers, then a switch, then a wiring kit then a connector . I thought I was doing it on t...

Re: still overheating
Not when overheating, but I have seen it working, but didn't seem to be any reason why it was, a bit hit and miss There should be sensor/switch in radiator, maybe that's faulty or fan itself. There is no sensor that tells the fan to operate, it is built into the actual fan motor and is a non servic...

Good clear picture, thanks.
I knew I had put them back on wrong but they just seemed too close to the outside. I will get another one to replace the one I ruined and have another go on Saturday.

Re: Rear anti-roll bar drop links.
Nothing on the boxes to indicate LH or RH. Euro website says LH or RH. Had another look and it seems to NOT fit nicely either side of the anti roll bar but I want to put them back the way they should be. They were not expensive but I bloody cross threaded the one I removed when I had another look. X(

Rear anti-roll bar drop links.
Just replaced the rear drop links.
Bit confused as it seems like I have put the new ones on the 'wrong' side of the anti-roll bar. It seemed like that was the only way they would go back on.
Have to have another look tomorrow. Bummer.

Re: 2 Issues? Pulsing whirring from front left wheel at 60+mph AND alternator whine.
Alternator whine could just be the belt being too tight.
Front wheel noise could be a dodgy tyre (but....dodgy tyres usually show when fitted to the rear from memory). If it is a wheel bearing it not an expensive job. Just finding a decent garage you trust is the hard part.

The only item I can comment on is the mirror adjust. If you have the highline MFD, it can be changed on there.
All the VAGCOM stuff is Chinese to me. I have a contact that is a genius with it all so I contact him if anything needs scanning.

First time the Passat has nearly let me down.
A while back I had the small local garage change the inline thermostat because I could not be bothered doing it myself. Set off early yesterday and just down the road the coolant warning light came on :0 , made a quick about turn and got home. A look under the bonnet showed the inline 'stat had come...

Just done a big spend on the Passat, with freebies.
Being classed as self employed I get a small tax refund around April. Instead of wasting it (or god forbid saving it :hyst ) I spend it on the Passat. I knew the suspension was tired so this time I had new shock absorbers front and back and a couple of bushes/bolts done. This led to other stuff rear...

Re: 2007 B6 2.0l FSI SE Saloon 9500 miles
My advice with cars (especially if you like the car) is to keep on top of them, if you ignore one thing then ignore another, before you know it the car is a wreck. I don't care that our Passat is a 13 year old car that is going rusty around the edges. To me I really really like it and have never tho...

Re: 2007 B6 2.0l FSI SE Saloon 9500 miles
Can't answer all your questions, but... 1. Petrols are much rarer than the diesels. 2. Fitting a turbo is a big expensive job, easier to change the car. Ours is a petrol turbo and with a stage 1 APR re-map it has 230 bhp and 300 lb/ft. 3. Front fogs, I found it quite straight forward reall...

Re: Power folding mirrors.
Got the folding mirrors working at last. Took a drive around some scrapyards today and finally found a Golf that had the little folding symbol on the door switch. :D ( And £5.56 in change in the cubby hole). Could not believe it when I saw an R36 in for breaking :( . Although it was pouring down I c...

Re: B6 key fob working intermittently/ playing up
I have possibly been having the same problem. A complete new fob is cheap so might do that.
I was wondering how many times it has been pressed over the years and could just be worn out.

Power folding mirrors.
I have searched and to be honest I have ended up a bit baffled by all the numbers mentioned. I have fitted the mirrors and switch to our 2006 SEL estate. It seems now I need to change the door modules (I knew this). The ones on the car are.... 1KO 959 792 G, Passenger side. 1KO 959 793 G, Drivers si...

Re: Passat Highline rear wheels issue/tyre wear
On ours I did rear springs, wishbones and outer bushes with all new nuts and bolts. When I did a test drive the car felt VERY strange. Felt like the back end was 'walking'. Luckily there is a fast fit place not far away they did a full alignment (rear toe was miles out, to be expected). Fitter was i...

Re: Permanent airbag faults
Don't know if it related or not but....Our airbag light kept coming on, random things showed up when I scanned it with my Carista gadget. A bit of searching said it was a common fault with a little plug under each seat. The fix involves disconnecting the battery (just to be safe), cutting out the du...

I had ours looked at and the paint shop manager could not believe the car had never had any paint done, he went round the car twice with his little gadget. I said great, when can I book it in. When he got back to me it was the usual story, you pay half we pay half. I didn't waste any more time on it.

If you didn't spend all your money on it but kept some in reserve for sorting any issues then you will be fine. Get any problems fixed and you should be ok.
Personally I would not touch a car that did not have any paperwork no matter how cheap it was.

I really like it when cars have lots of factory extras on them. Somebody went to town when they ordered this one from new.

I had our 2.0 FSI T remapped and the only thing that was mentioned was to change down to 5th on the motorway, although it will easily pull in 6th, just take the strain off a bit by changing down.

Thanks for that, I will get the hang of it. I just love factory options on a car. The SEL has lots of stuff as standard over the SE... Two zone climate control. Auto coming home lights. Auto dimming rear view mirror. Double sun visors. Auto dimming lights. Footwell lights. Heated seats. Heated washe...
