Re: Crankshaft Position Sensor - ouch
Just wanted to report that this was fixed after glow plugs were replaced along with loom and a new battery. Nightmare but got there in the end. Good to hear - I have a rod bearing change to do on mine then a DMF replacement followed by a DSG oil and filter change. Waiting for some warmer weather as...

Re: Head unit upgrade from rcd310 to rns315
The phone/voice button on the steering wheel needs activating using VCDS. THere's not a lot of info you'll get in the MFD for nav, it just shows direction arrows of your next turn, better off just using the 315 screen for nav. If you've swapped from the 310 to 315, the MFD will need programming to g...

Re: Turbo issues.... or not??
Changed MAF sensor and now getting P1592 fault. From search this may be due to 1) shorting or break in wires from maf to ecu 2) bad earthing 3) cos I used a third party MAF sensor it may mean this is why previous overboost codes have disappeared and may return if oem maf sensor fitted. 4) also some...

Rear Brakepad fitment issues
Has anyone had issues with pad fitment on the rear discs? I replaced the discs and pads 2 weeks ago (pagid discs and eicher pads). However, the rear pads make a knocking noise when braking. I stripped it all down and found the pads are loose in the carrier (about 1mm movement), allowing them to ratt...

Re: Limp mode / cuts out / wont start
Its amazing that a dead battery can throw up so many phantom faults. That's just sensitive electronics unfortunately
Glad the battery has sorted it.

Re: Coolant pump for charge pressure cooler P190D00
Was it a genuine VW part they have replaced it with?
@Crasher has mentioned on another forum about this pump, aftermarket ones can sometimes be un-recognized by the ECU. He only fits Genuine VW as a replacement for this.

And? You're not going to let the first quote put you off the Passat? Shop around. My old 2013 B7 is still going with nearly 198k on the clock. Still not needed anything major apart from the usual servicing. Keep asking the guy that bought it how its going, he's got no complaints, still drives like a...

Re: Limp mode / cuts out / wont start
Thank you for replying guys Battery is approx 2 year old. I changed it myself I asked garage and he said no chance it's battery. He said it's some faulty electrical thing or maybe ECU. Did the garage do a battery test though? Age of the battery may be overlooked as a factor, its not uncommon for a ...

Re: Limp mode / cuts out / wont start
Been a while since I been on here (divorce, court and moving 3 times) eek. Anyway my Passat has given me much grief this past 2 weeks. It is a 2016 DSG. It cut out at 15mph and wouldnt restart until I cleared faults with OBDeleven. I could hear the fuel pump making a knocking noise so replaced it w...

Re: Cam Belt Change
If you google your local dealership, most of them have their own VW website, and have a servicing section which will list the cost of a cambelt service.fredthefifth wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 1:44 pm Anyone got any rough idea of what a cam belt changes costs at a dealership on a 2018 1.4TSi?

Re: Fog light disassembly / cleaning
If it were the headlight i'd say have a go, but as the fog units are relatively cheap compared to headlights, I'd get a replacement to save you the hassle.

Re: And now that almost every mechanical fault was cured…..
If its still spinning, I'd say alternator fault. I had a clutch pulley pack in on my old B7, but it still charged the battery. The pulley just sounded like a broken tensioner chattering. Mind, the clutch pulley was a git to remove, ended up rounding the hex on the end of the shaft which ruined it, s...

... 4. I was expecting this car to use / require AdBlue as it's a Euro 6, but I cannot find the filler port in the boot or next to the fuel port... From reading another thread here and a few other places, it seems like this car might not actually use AdBlue at all! Weird! I had assumed all Euro 6 d...
