Are you sure there's oil in there? apart from the sludge, that looks bone dry!

Re: My aircon, the continuing saga!

Thanks again maclee. Never knew any of this about the compressor and was told the Passat unit needed a pressurised system to operate, and if it didn’t have any pressure it would just spin and the clutch wouldn’t engage. As you will see from these, fairly generic photos, that is the case with the ea...

Re: New owner of B8 2.0 EVO

Hi, A first time VW owner, I just bought a B8 estate, late 2019 with the 2.0 EVO engine and DSG auto. The car is ex-lease/auction, with a partial service history, so will be looking at what servicing & TLC it needs to be a reliable drive for the next few years. I know it was previously serviced...

Re: LED bulbs for DRL

It has a bulb check on DRLs. Unless you are using a load resistor, it may give a warning like this.

You can code out the bulb check with VCDS

I didn't have to code when i did by old B7, so i think you'll be fine in your B6 since it doesn't have stop/start

Re: Temp goes down in traffic

If you don't have a DSG, then there's only one thermostat.

Pop your reg in https://www.gsfcarparts.com/parts/cooli ... thermostat and it'll list the right one for you.

Re: Lost my key

As I would like another key, I was quoted around $1300 from my local VW dealer. Couldn't believe how much they wanted. I could possibly get a new key through my insurance but I'm not sure what my excess is so I had a look online and found quite a few second hand keys. So my question is assuming the...

Re: Lost my key

Strangely I'm able to start the car with the remote placed next to the steering wheel The system is designed to do this incase the battery in the fob dies. When you press the buttons on the remote, does a red led illuminate on the top right of the lock button? If not, you've either got a flat batte...

Re: Lost my key

Hold the key fob next to the steering column. There's a key symbol where it needs to be held. This will stop the alarm and allow you to start the car. Change the battery in the key fob, then turn on the ignition (no start) with the fob on the column. Once on, press the lock button on the remote 5 ti...

Re: Help on choosing parts for service on 2015 B8 GT 2.0Tdi Saloon please

Thanks mrderv Pics show a sensor on the front pads and the fitment detail says wear indicator is integrated so I shouldn’t need the separate sensor 👍 Fronts have a sensor, Pagid pads include it. Rear pads are a multi-fitment across a huge range of cars, so if the pic shows the sensor, it will be ge...

Don't think there is any component protection on them. Pre-tensioners might be an issue, not sure if these are in the belt reel, or on the buckle on the seat

Re: Help on choosing parts for service on 2015 B8 GT 2.0Tdi Saloon please

Skip eurocarparts and order through Halfords online. Pagid discs and pads far cheaper than eurocarprats even with their discount code.

For the rear brakes, i would find a set of TRW pads. I tried eicher and pagid pads on the rear, but they were loose fit in the carriers, and TRW were a perfect fit.

Re: URGENT: How can I prime my TDI after a fuel issue?

Replacing the fuel filter would be worth a try. My sisters Kia started limping in the freezing weather, and the fault codes showed low fuel pressure. All forum posts suggested a manky fuel filter so we replaced it and all was good again. Diesel becomes thicker as it gets colder, so if the fuel filte...
