Re: First Post - EPB issue :(
Yes it's a B6 Passat. It could still be the switch that's faulty. Assuming the 'decent' code reader can provide VCDS codes then 02433 is listed here: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/02443. When I first bought my B6 over 5 years ago it had a parking brake switch problem. I made the mistake o...

Perhaps have a look on www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk, I'm sure they would help if you gave them a call.

Re: Passat B6 comprehensive brake bleed
I would recommend anyone working on their car to get a Haynes manual, currently £12.97 inc p&P on ebay. Some procedures aren't quite right or oversimplified, but basics like bleeding the brakes are well covered.

Re: 2009 (B6?) Passat Estate 2.0L tdi Highline Plus - lack of power, flashing warming coil lamp, limp mode
For me, Forte Turbo Cleaner (eBay) added to the fuel helped to keep the limp mode symptoms at bay for a while, but I ended up spending tens of pounds on what is, at best, a temporary fix which would never provide a permanent cure. In hindsight I would have saved the money and put it towards sorting ...

Re: Scratchy left front speaker.
Only issue is that the original speakers are riveted into the inner door liner. The 4 rivets can be gently drilled out to remove the speaker, then a new / salvaged speaker can be held in with screws instead (or you can fit an alternative brand of speaker with an adapter plate to make the shape fit).

Re: Turbo oil feed pipe
Good point, forgot to say that I fitted a new KMB balancer shaft / oil pump drive key *before* replacing my turbo as it would have been too risky (and potentially expensive) just to swap the turbo without addressing the oil pump achilles heel. Car was on 133k at the time and there was obvious wear o...

Re: 2009 (B6?) Passat Estate 2.0L tdi Highline Plus - lack of power, flashing warming coil lamp, limp mode
Welcome, yes the 2006-2010 model is the B6. I think you're on the right track as those symptoms are likely to be turbo related. A scan would point you to the specific reason for tripping into limp mode, but a reason might have several possible root causes, e.g. underboost could be boost pipe/interco...

Re: Passat B6 comprehensive brake bleed
You should bleed the clutch but be careful with the bleed nipple, it can seize solid. I had to replace the one on my early B6 when changing the clutch last year, which cost about £40 inc vat from the dealer. Otherwise I just use a Gunson Eezibleed for a full flush and follow the order in the Haynes ...

Re: Turbo oil feed pipe
The OEM fixed pipe isn't great, as it's usually impossible to disconnect it from the turbo without twisting / breaking the pipe. One good option is to switch to a braided oil supply line from Darkside Developments (https://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/darkside-braided-oil-feed-line-for-1-...

Re: Heater / Blower Problems
Sometimes, when selecting reverse (it's a DSG box), a similar thing happens. The tone of the blower changes and air stops being blown from the vents. Additionally, there's a "clicking" noise, as if a flap or diverter is being pushed passed a stop. (Did say it was strange....) A standard '...

Re: B6 aircon fault
Climatic has an ECON button. Operation is confusing in earlier B6s. If ECON is illuminated then the aircon system is switched off. For aircon to work normally then ECON has to be off (not illuminated).

Re: Epb question please.
Am i right thinking that 6 tooth is the older version and 12 tooth the newer? Yes, they changed over in approx 2008. So you have inherited a 12 point motor fitted to a 6 point caliper? That's not right as you seem to have worked out. I thought from your first post that you had a whole new caliper w...

Re: Epb question please.
Is it the same as just winding the callipers into service mode and then back after working on them. Many thanks Assuming your new caliper is a complete unit with EPB already fitted? If so it will already be in the 'open' position so you would fit the caliper, then the brake pads and use VCDS to clo...

Re: DMF vs SMF Clutch Kit
Has anyone done this...... benefits/disadvantages of each? I replaced mine with an OEM (Sachs) DMF kit, essentially because that was the original design intent and the old clutch/DMF lasted until 175k. Clutch function was still ok but the DMF was starting to rattle badly. Have now done over 10k on ...

Yes. You can take out the front struts with the top mount still attached, but then to separate it from the shock you will need to compress the spring.

Re: Passat Highline rear wheels issue/tyre wear
New bushes (fitted myself) and a 4 wheel alignment (£65 at a local independant) and all is good now. Agree, my car used to suffer from really bad inner wear on the rears. Sawtooth wear too, which caused a loud droning noise. About 30 months ago I swapped out all rear bushes and had the car properly...

Re: Fuel temperature sensor
Mine (BMR 2.0) comes from the bigger loom crossing the front of the engine behind the oil filter housing. Will be the same loom (on mine) that feeds most of the front sensors (cam, crank, oil pressure, 1st coolant temp sensor etc.). On mine the wires are fairly short so if it is still there it will...

Rear indicators are sealed LEDs, so no bulbs to change. Loose cable somewhere, else would suggest a second hand replacement.

Re: Coolant temp low
Both coolant sensors on a BKP are the same part number, changed both mine and the thermostat at the same time. I had noticed that on a cold day, the temp gauge took a sudden dip as it was approaching 90C - presumably due to the thermostat opening too early. Changing all the parts at once fixed it. h...

I used Midland Turbo 30 months ago. Reconditioned turbo with 2 year warranty, supplied with gaskets etc was approx £330 inc vat then, included next day shipping both ways. I've done about 50k on the new unit and it's been fine. I did the work myself but an indy garage quoted 2.5 hours labour. Some a...
