Local car wash guy's to me offer this as a service and do a good job.
When i was selling my old bmw i took it to them for a valet and got the lights done at the same time.
£15 to do them but to be fair they looked like new after.

Tayna shift a lot of batteries so you get fresh stock unlike some places where they have been standing around.
Been to them several times very busy place.

Re: Replacing car battery
I remember on my 5.5 i changed the battery without any jump cables.
When i turned the ignition on the radio thought about it then came back on.
I think the code is stored in some ecu but you never know if you still have the radio that was fitted at the factory so better to be safe.

Under load the voltage will be lower than 13v/12.6v that would be the standing charge.

Alternator won't stop the car from starting if you have a charged battery on it.
Also small squirts of brake cleaner next time you try it.

Don't know 100% but i don't think it is the glow plug itself but could be a faulty controller one or the other.

Again not sure but i still think it's down to lack of use.
Could be a micro switch.
Very surprised nobody has come in on this with the right answer.
Not in a passat for a few years and never had the problem myself.
Come on peep's help out on this one.
