Re: Winter Prep

Also... When you're taking the door cards off, make sure you check the window regulators where the casings meet the doors. I've had water coming over the door seals and into the floor when there's rain so as a matter of caution seal it up when you bolt everything back up. It gives the same condition...

DPF and egr delete. Followed by remap.

Allard on eBay was cheapest for me for the egr delete - allard and darkside direct via their websites were more expensive.

Re: b6 worth avoiding?

Forums are usually filled with negatives as most people join because of issues, I joined as we've got a fleet of Passats (2xb5.5 and 2xb6) and I like joining clubs/forums where I can help, share ideas and learn. Ive already done the oil pump balancer shafts on mine and she's been a dream (rather pre...

I've got hex logic pads, there's different levels of cut using different pads so you may have to get a few.

Always start with the pad which offers the least amount of cut and work your way up...

Re: Anyone fit a dash cam?

I did my install a few months ago, you can get self adhesive clips that you can stick to the screen and feed the wiring through which will hold the power cable (to stop it from dropping down when it has been installed). I've got my Road Hawk cam mounted behind the rear view mirror out of sight (the ...

I used to be into salvage, now I do it more as a hobby as I like repairing things. My b5 was a cat d with only minor wing damage, my current b5.5 was a cat d with front damage (airbags, seat belts, grille, bumper, headlights, iron, rad pack etc) and my current b6 was also a cat d, again with frontal...

I had good results with the megs stuff and scholl.

There's also clay mitts as opposed to bars and some bars that just require water as opposed to lube.

Taken from a Google search; It turned out that vacuum hose coming of the intake manifold for the diverter valve had dry rotted and cracked. It cracked right under the coolant line that travels over the intake manifold and wasn't readily visible until you looked at it with an inspection mirror. Start...
