Yep you can change the stalks over in the housings, one torx screw, they can be swapped B3/B4. Just be careful of the little spring under the screw.VolksKid83 wrote:
Would a B4 cruise stalk clip in to a B3 MFA stalk, for test driving? I know the steering cowling won't fit over the hazard button.

Re: why swiftcover insurance is junk
The parts thing is bolx.. pretty much any claim on these cars will write them off so the cost of parts is irrelevant. the cost of the insurance is pretty much all just down to the 3rd party risk. Very cheeky of them to renew it early too!

Re: B3 Van & Wagon
Sorry to hear about all this, things change I guess, probably going to have to get rid of my B3 in the summer due to work moving offices and my wife expecting a baby. In the mean time I think I'm going to take the Hella DE's off mine too and go back to standard lights to raise some cash.

Re: My B4 16V is dying
I think it's the same situation with catalytic converters, have to be fitted if car had it originally. I kinda feel the same way about ABS etc. My b3 never had it and I haven't died driving it or had any accidents due to not having ABS, but when we got the news that my wife was expecting a baby I di...

Re: My B4 16V is dying
Sorry to hear that Roger :( what's wrong with it? As an aside, the entire front end can be dropped off and bolted straight on to a B3 (subframe, engine, box, loom, suspension, driveshafts, hubs, ecu, crossmember and rad etc.) which gives you the best engine (ABF) in the best shell (B3 ;-) ) with the...

Re: B3/B4 stalks swap
oddly it was fine when I drove home last night :-?? so I think it might be the relay. Looking at how the switch works I'm not sure how it can fail closed-circuit, as it's just a spring loaded contact that connects bare areas on the PCB. Had a look at my spare bits last night and the MFA stalk can ea...

Cheers guys have had a google and looks like it should be a straight swap as the hazard switch is in the same place on the B3 and B4 stalks.

B3/B4 stalks swap
Anyone know if B4 MFA stalks are a straight swap into a B3? guess I just need the steering lock cowl to suit as the hazards switch is a different shape?
My windscreen wipers wont turn off, think it's the stalk... have two spare sets of stalks (b3 and b4) but the b3 ones are non-MFA

Re: Wishbone bushes - useful info``
Nothing out there for the rear beam, but lemforder rear beam bushes are OEM and are cheap from ECP. Remember you need 4 (2 each side). Polybushes wouldn't work on the rear beam due to the passive rear steering effect on the back of these- internal wedges inside the bushes change the thrust angle of ...

Re: alterator belt is loose...or at least is slack
Can you get a pic of that end of the engine showing what belt setup you have? I know some B4's (including the one my engine came out of ) have a funny tensioner with a roller mounted on the end of a spring loaded arm that passes through the alt bracket, these get stiff over time and gunked up with c...

yeah the velcro sticks to the carpet stuff on the back of the seat, think you might have the cover in upside down, the velcro needs to be on the top as you feed it in. Interesting... Mine's cut for the 60/40 seat. (looks factory) the velcro needs to be underneath the cover otherwise the "60&qu...

If your heater controls work ok, apart from the bulb, leave well alone, if you put any sort of pressure on the plastic parts they will snap and they are almost impossible to get hold of nowadays.

I believe the updated ignition switch is a 6n Polo part, fiddly but not that bad once you've got the spline adaptor off.

Mine are Hella DE, which use a H3 in the dip beam projector lens and H1 spotlights for the main beams. Uses the same Hella "smiley face" metal bodied lamps as the quad lamp BMWs (E30, E28 etc.) of the same era. They have an internal frame and a separate "mask" that screws to the ...

Hmmm never seen one go on the rear panel like that. Did you have a look at the condition of the sills under the plastic GT trim? I reckon that's gonna be nasty

Re: help on buying a b3.
Most stuff on these is pretty simple. Look for rot on the sills as said above as that's a MOT fail. Other thing to be aware of is the condition of the rear beam bushes. IMO all of these cars should have had these done by now, if it hasn't then it's something that you'll need to do very soon. Bit of ...

Re: Audi 80 estates- same car as b4 really???
Audi 80's had a longitudinal engine so were more like an updated Passat B2. Probably odd bits that are shared but overall a very different car to a B3/B4. Obviously the gearbox is completely different but the block itself would fit in a B4 with the appropriate mounts. Inlet/exhaust manifolds would b...
