Re: Rust In Peace (A B5.5 story comes to an end)

Assuming the block hasnt gone, or the head, or its warped.

You wouldnt just slap it back together, youd check and likely have the head skimmed, still doable but the right tests and skimming would add cost.

Re: Bluetooth rns315

Good luck, you just need to buy a full legal vcds package or find someone with it willing to help.

£200 - £300 should buy it from an official supplier :)

Re: Double din help

The launcer is the frontend to android, the skin, ie the look and feel. You can switch if you wanted, and you can have multiple installed, but why would you use more than one when the stock ones on these units are frankly rubbish and not well suited to driving. Theyre similar in that theyre designed...

Re: Double din help

Built in wifi. You need to switch on your phone hotspot and go to the android settings menu, find the wifi section and set up a connection. Dont use your hotspot open, have the maximum security (phone hotspot settings). Once set up should be kept, so just turning on hotspot in your phone will let th...

Re: Double din help

I would like to check the exact model number, if its any kind of recent model it should not need a seperate wifi dongle, dongles have their own antennas, so it wouldnt/shouldnt need one from the unit itself.

Just go into settings and check the wifi steup.

Tbh between manufacturers playing loose with dimensions and offsets and so on and on, sometimes youve just got to do as much guesstimating as you can then take a punt and see if it all works out.

Re: Double din help

Stop thinking of it like a separate stereo. Its an Android tablet with outputs, inputs and an amp akin to a car stereo. You give it live data, and you install and run apps natively like you would any tablet or phone. If you mirror your phone all youve done is make it an expensive monitor. Then you i...

Re: Double din help

Complete rubbish lol. And its likely an SD slot not a SIM slot. You can store maps on a fast SD if you want, but you just install any android nav app these days. What you would do is put on the likes of copilot, and configure the app to store map data on the SD card instead of android default locati...

Conspiracy theory? Telling the ecu the battery has been replaced resets the charging parameters that it adjusts over time for the old battery. Whats so sinister about that?

Paint removal products :) Specifically dont know, whatever wont harm plastic which probably rules out some paint strippers. https://www.google.com/search?q=plastic+friendly+paint+remover&oq=plastic+friendly+paintst&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l3.11374j0j4&client=ms-android-h3g-gb-revc&source...

Doubtful, but i couldnt say for certain, from what i saw stripping down the dash when i had a B6 the basic structure is also the frame that most trim parts fix to. There are ways to lift paint is it so bad its got to be changed? Pictures can tell you a lot : https://www.ebay.co.uk/b/passat-b6-dashbo...

Re: All three brakes lights stuck on...?? Help..

If were talking the B5.5 the "sport" is about 15mm lower and barely different shocks, if at all, and the AVF version engine if its Diesel, which is almost identical to the AWX but a different torque map and slightly bigger clutch and 6 speed gearbox. That is about it lol. Its the right one...

Once you put them right, they stay right within reason, shame VW put the flaws into the design that they did, but all are correctable. It was a great design, especially the front suspension, but that said a full front arm replacement is a significant task as a result, and some alignment techs just c...

I would water test first, might be the problem might not. Regarding your door handle pull. The bowden cables socket into slots and mounting guide/holes on the back of the inner door card handle mechanism, if the mounting tab is broken youll definitely have difficulty. Not sure what new ones might co...

Old trim on these can get very brittle, just wait until you take the glove box out and all the mounting tabs break off. :hyst Trim is always a PITA on modern vehicles, even once you learn where all the fixings are hidden. These days I will avoid doing minor jobs one by one and accrue a boxfull of bi...
