Re: re-map
Check the pipe to intake manifold join, my Bora was great then that joint came loose and it was losing air so was flat then all hell broke loose along with a big cloud of poo out the tailpipe! Fun but not sensible nor economical and really quick to fix. I did check the pipes, and though there does s...

oil in water
Gentlemen,I have a problem to which I think I think I know the answer, trouble is,I want some of you to tell me it isn't so! Some weeks ago,the water in my header tank was contaminated with oil.Head gasket of course, though the engine was running normally. So I brought in a VW mobile mechanic.Because t...

brake pedal
Hope someone can help with my irritating problem. When the engine is off,the brake pedal is solid, turn the engine on,and the pedal will sink all the way to the floor when pressed hard. The brakes work fine, and the only work I have done is changing disks, pads and brake fluid.Could I have damaged any se...

Re: Theiving lowlife scum
That is the first time I have heard of that. How strange, but I suppose it is a couple of hundred quid, but it's a shock that people can think they can just do it. Have you reported it to the police? If so they maybe able to cross reference it with any RTA's of a similar vehicle. Worth a shot. Matt...

Re: stretched tyres
Thanks for all the thoughts lads, and Chris,I do remember the rear ends being jacked up.It seems that everyone who had a four wheeled rust bucket did it,plus a peco exhaust. That was in my mini moving to escort days. As I said it was just curiosity, having seen them around on the young boys cars.235's ...

stretched tyres
I ask this question purely out of interest as a performance enthusiast.CAN STRETCHED TYRES DO THEIR JOB? Driving on curly roads at pace is a passion of mine, always has been(rally interests).I can't imagine driving as I do(traffic conditions allowing) around country roads, and putting my faith in some...

Re: tyre wear
Thanks for the replies men, appreciated.I was back at the garage this morning where they had a good look around.the outcome was, that they think it was somehow a rogue tyre. The groove on the inside shoulder was as if a one pence piece had been held there, though the wear was eccentric, and the steel bel...

tyre wear
A strange one here gents, don't know if anyone can shed any light. Four months ago,I changed the o/s bottom arm and track rod end on my 2003 estate.Tyres are 235/45x17 and have been for 3 years and 2 changes of tyres. After having the necessary 4 wheel alignment done, off I went as normal. today,whils...

Re: b5.5 tdi Going in to limp mode at high speeds?????
I've just developed the same problem.Had a mobile mech down to check with diagnostic machine,he concluded the turbo was on the way out.Located one at DM german parts at Accrington, went to collect it,had a chat, and a young lad called Mitch said it wasn't the turbo, check all the pipes, and move on to a...
