Re: Debage passat and maybe tailpipes?
Dental floss will soon get the badges off, then remove the sticky residue that's left with tar remover. A quick polish and wax later and you'll be done. If you like the look of tailpipe trims, get some and put them on. The ones with the spring fixings inside are the best as you don't see any fixing ...

Re: 2019 Passat launch - put your car in the spotlight!
Unmodified cars without significant damage are preferred, as are standout/special models from each generation (e.g. W8, R36, Alltrack). Surely having an R36 would take all eyes away from the new model? It would be better to have a few B5.5s with rusty wings so that you could say, "look at what...

Re: Xenon not working, now additional problem
It could be the ballast unit that's faulty if you're not getting power to the bulb. Does the bi-xenon shutter click when you activate main beam or flash? The TPMS fault is likely to be a corroded valve/sensor. They are around £80 each, so not cheap. You can either turn off TPMS with VCDS or similar,...

Look at your car as it is now, then imagine it with the rear wheels pushed 10mm further out. That should give you an idea.

Re: Car locking automatically with the fob
There should only be two ways that the car will lock automatically. One is if you unlock it but don't open any doors. It will assume it was unlocked by mistake, so relock itself. The second is if you press the boot unlock button only and open the boot. When you close the boot it will lock and reset ...

Re: Dsg auto
It's designed to be left in D all the time. It is effectivly in neutral when it's held by the brakes, but it's easy to assume it's straining against the clutch like a manual would. When using Auto Hold, initially the car is held by it maintaining the amount of fluid pressure you generated to stop th...

Re: How much?
£80 does sound like a decent price fitted. They are a oh fiddlesticks! to get at as well. I'm sure the dealers would be close to double that. Gaz is spot on, it is as well to do them in pairs and if one's popped, the other won't be far behind. Surely you knew you had a bulb out before taking it for ...

Re: New W8 member
There seem to be quite a few Jap import W8s around for sale at the moment. The thing is, do you change the number plate recess for a European one? A few years back, UK cars were getting modded to look like US/Jap spec, but seeing as you have one, will you be able to leave it alone?

Do you reversing lights work properly? It sounds like a switching problem if the are working, but not turning off when not in reverse. Try the reverse light switch.

Re: Replacement Sterio Radio with Sat Nav, Blue Tooth, reversing camera etc
Personally I think they are cheap for a reason. I would either bite the bullet and get a genuine replacement, or forgo the nav and get something like this. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/09-12-VW-GOLF-MK6-TOUCHSCREEN-DAB-RADIO-CD-PLAYER-HEAD-UNIT-3C8035195G/263882182426?_trkparms=aid%3D333200%26algo%3DC...

Re: Replacement Sterio Radio with Sat Nav, Blue Tooth, reversing camera etc
That's an RNS510. A great radio in its day, but pretty sluggish and outdated now. Personally I'd take the opportunity to getting something aftermarket and up to date. Most new ones will come with DAB too which will future proof it. You will need to check compatibility with the car so that it will wo...

Re: B7 Parking sensor volume
I've got the same problem with my Tiguan. You can change the tone with VCDS, but not the volume. It's down to the position of the sounder. With the seats folded or the parcel shelf removed, all is good. When I get round to it, I shall look into moving it, or adding a second sounder.

Re: Harman Becker DSP sound system
The speaker outputs will come from the DSP, so there will be no speaker wiring from the back of the radio. You'll need to make a new speaker wiring loom to run from the back of your new radio to the existing speakers. I'd take the opportunity to upgrade the speakers whist you are at it. Doing this w...

6000k look bright as they have a blueish tinge, but 4200k are more like OEM and closer to daylight in output.
