Re: Any recommendations for HID light kit?
Sorry I should have been clearer. When I normalised the halogen I was referring to a reflector halogen headlight unit. As a pose to a projector halogen headlight unit. So technically not wrong. Just not comprehensive wording one my behalf. Thanks for clearing that up for me though Ray I know people...

Re: Driver mirror
You can buy a new mirror from the dealers or TPS, or second hand by ringing around the breakers. Fitting is straightforward with basic tools as long as you are methodical about it. There are plenty of fitting guides on you tube.

Re: Very high spec car.
Those headlight protectors are horrid. No privacy glass or sunroof tho', so not 'fully loaded'. Way too much money for that car, but probably cheaper than retro fitting all those extras as some people like to do.

The only slight benefit would be slightly faster warm up, so the heaters and demisters would work sooner.

I'm not sure about the chrome grille with black panel. Also it needs glass black mirrors. Other than that, spot on.

Go into Setup on the radio and adjust the volume in the Sound menu. Does the volume of your radio reduce when reversing? you can adjust the level that it does that too.

Re: Newbie in need of help - MFD Issue
It's a 2011 Bluemotion Sport. Arrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhh. It's not a Bluemotion Sport. It's just a Sport. It might have a Bluemotion Technology badge on the back, but they all do. Adverts all over the internet refer to them in all sorts of ways. Mostly all of them wrong. Anyway, the standard radio in th...

Re: Newbie in need of help - MFD Issue
Sometimes the body control module can lose it's coding. It's likely that it's forgotten some of it's functions. This needs to be checked with VCDS or similar. It could also be the radio that needs rebooting. The radio talks to the steering wheel through the BCM, so if it's not sending the correct si...

Re: 2004 Passat wheels onto Post 2014 Golf
The Passat wheels are et37, whereas the Golf is et51. Being so small, they will fit, but they'll look cack on the Golf. Especially as they'll stick out an estra 14mm. My Golf 7 Match had 16" wheels and they looked tiny.

Re: EGR, head light, audio...
EGR cleaners don't work. Other than removing it and mapping it out, a replacement part is the only permanent (well 70,000 miles or so) fix. Don't fit a xenon/HID kit in your reflector headlights. They will look rubbish and scatter light all over the place. Mostly in the eyes of oncoming drivers. As ...

Re: LED Light Bar
So tell me how come vehicles come from the factory with additional high beam lights on the roof? Let's take the Scania S series for example. You'll find LED spot lights above the grille (where the air intakes on the old R series were,) as well as a second pair of LED spot lights in the cab roof. The...

Many lorries have a multitude of spot lights and don't pee anyone off. Why do they have them, because they want them. If the lad want's a light bar on the roof of his Passat that works with main beam, why shouldn't he?

Re: LED Light Bar
You get what you pay for. There are plenty of big, cheap bars that are more like work lights. They flood loads of light, but don't have much range. Lazer do proper driving light bars, as used by many WRC teams, but they are far from cheap. Wiring is easy. They just need a relayed loom triggered from...

Re: R36 Scrub a dub.
I would have loved an R36, but didn't think I could have justified the fuel costs. Given the lack of depreciation, one could well have cost less to own than the B7 diesel that I had. I now have an Amarok, and at £100 to fill the tank that lasts no more than 600miles, I'd guess it is comparable with ...

Have you had a full 4 wheel alignment check done? Not just tracking, but camber, castor, toe etc. The rear suspension can all to often be out of kilter and cause all sorts of issues. It's a job for the dealers or someone with a Hunter machine that knows how to use it properly.

Yep, it's the window regulator carrier panel seal.
Door card off, slacken the fixing bolts, bead of silicone across the bottom and half way up both sides, re-tighten the bolts, refit the door card, put up with the smell of silicone for a couple of days, job done.

Re: Back the passat world,b6 or b7
It's not a minefield at all, and all the diesels use pretty much the same amount of fuel. Initially there was the S, Bluemotion, SE and Sport. Then came the R-line which was a sporty looking S with a body kit, sports suspension and xenons. Towards the end of the line there was an Executive and Execu...

Re: Back the passat world,b6 or b7
When you talk about Bluemotion, do you mean the proper Bluemotion model, or a car with Bluemotion Technology, which they all have? BMT is simply stop/start, gear change indicator on manuals and battery regeneration when coasting. The Bluemotion model has all that plus higher gearing, smoother aero a...

The difference is, your trailer is attached to the 5th wheel, which is well inboard of the units rear axle line. A tow hitch on a car is hanging way out the back, so the trailer acts like a big pendulum.
