As said before there should be a little tool bag in a recess underneath the first aid flap (under the carpet...or at least they are on my B5). I have a screwdriver, 10/13mm spanner, plastic wheel nut thinger (to stop the disc from turning while the wheel is off) strange plastic clip thing that I hav...

I already had WD40 running down the sideskirt from the previous attempt, made no difference so gave all doors and the seat runners a spray with the white litium as I doubt it's been done for a long long time. Did the bonnet and boot to and everything's working much easier now....shame the noise hasn...

New hinge is £13 from the dealer (+VAT I think). Still working the white lithium in so we'll see if it goes away, it's much quieter now, turned into more of a tick noise when I pull away or brake.

Seems to coincide to the chassis twisting.

Tried giving it a quick grease and it's just as noisy as before so it looks like I'll be needing a new hinge :(

Will be heading off to the stealers to get a price today. I can't wait until I run out of things to repair on this damn car.

Nope but I'll get hold of some and do that.

It hasn't been to the dealer for a service for a very long time, last time they touched that door it came back with the window not refitted properly and the door letting in water.

Thanks for the advice :)

Creaky door!

My rear door has been driving me insane lately with its constant creaking. I looked into it after getting home from work and it seems to be the top hinge creaking away. Any ideas how to solve this and what does the grub screw in that hinge do? I assume it holds some sort of grease in place to stop t...

any pics of the Rex?

I'm a closet fancier and wouldn't mind owning one someday (Type-RZ would be awesome). Don't think I could manage one as a daily driver though.

Would've thought it would cost more than that purely because you have to put the front of the car into the service position which takes a while in itself.

£80 sounds a bit cheap?

I'm guessing that either they don't know about how much work is involved doing it on a Passat or they won't be replacing the tensioner (assuming the diesel has one, not familiar) or perhaps both?

dragged out my steering wheel and had a good lap of the track only coming a cropper once (if you don't include the time I went around a sweeping bend at full pelt and did a slight bit of off road racing before returning to the track). Good fun and the force feedback just finishes it off nicely :)

I read an article somewhere (could've been online or in a mag) where somebody put a load of these things to the test after reviewing the science behind them...all of them turned out to be a load of poo. As said before if something so cheap worked all manufacturers would be fitting them.

Managed to get it stuck in the floor oops! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/madrob6/m3.jpg There's some fun to be had if you go though one of the holes in the barriers by the pit lane and bomb it down the service roads. Little single lane roads with a high powered M3......wonder how I managed ...
