Then 2 nuts hold the main case to the car

Scanning and logging is fine on the shareware version, how ever changes are limited, soft coding can be altered, but most things can't

6 of 1, 1/2 dozen of the other, if it fades you can polish it back up if it's raw, but it's less likely to need it if you lacquer it

Exactly the same, a bare aluminium finish that you can brush or polish.

Re: swapping parts from b5 to b5.5?
A complete list would be pages long of every changeable part. Best to ask what you what to swap over and get an answer that way. It's complicated, rear lights swap for example but need mods, doors will swap, but most of the modules inside are not cross compatible, front end will swap if you change i...

Re: Anyone tinted windows before?
Indeed, you heat it up to form the shape on the OUTSIDE, with the clear film facing out, Then peel and transfer to the inside, much easier to get it good that way as you don't have to battle the curve of the window as the film is already curved

Re: climatronic
Off topic, I apologise, however I have a full MK3 Climatronic setup here, I have no idea what it's worth.
If you don't mind, could you let me know what you gave for it as an idea of what they are worth?
I understand if you'd rather not though

A 1.8t should have 288mm Ate setup, but to check look for the antirattle spring clip on the caliper, if it's there then you have ATE calipers

Re: Putting a new sump on
Couldn't be more wrong, it's nothing like the golf.
The engine is transverse in the golf, on the B5/B5.5 Passat it's longitudinal so you either need to drop the sub frame or raise the engine, to get the sump out, other than that yes, sump sealer, and a ring of bolts.

Drop the puddle light, disconnect it from the wiring, remove bulb, insert LED one, refit, notice I doesn't work as you will always fit it the wrong way first, remove, turn the led round, refit, enjoy!

Me to, and mine are OE AUDI wheels with a paint and lacquer finish, just not worth the hassle of letting the salt get to them.

Re: replica wheels
That is a very broad question really, the term 'replica' in no way determines the quality of the wheel or the quality of the finish to withstand a winter, it simply means it's a copy of a wheel made by someone else first. For example, you could argue that the 3sdm 0.05 is a loose replica of the land...
