Re: 17" OR 18" Wheels
Pic to highlight. First one is 8x18 et48 all round no spacers, I couldn't fit the rears to the fronts as the different make of tyre rubbed, the fronts as they where had about 3mm clearance :) http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/03/18/3e200e6a6241565659a346d4c44df0da.jpg With 20mm rear spacers, none...

Re: 17" OR 18" Wheels
8x18 et48 with 225/40 tyres is tight with no spacer, depending on tyre manufacturer (as stated above they are not all exactly 225mm wide) can be the difference of rubbing the arms or having just a few mm clearance. I ran 15mm spacers with the above set up, if I did it again I'd use 20mm ones for a b...

Re: wobble while accelerating.
You could be at the wrong end of the car, worn rear beam bushes have a tendency to unsettle the whole car as the back end sways around over the axle
Worth check back there as well

Re: 9.5j Amg wheels on b5.5
9.5's up front will be tight, merc wheels tend to have high offsets and at that width you will be right in there with the suspension arms, spacers will solve it but then you will be out the arch
9.5's out back is nothing too tricky

Re: Heated Front Screen
Factory,I don't think so, although fords patent had expired by then, you can get switches for it and companies make the screens (looked into one for the mk2 and it's only £156 for the clear screen!) For little more than you would pay for a standard replacement!

Re: Not starting after belt change
Considering the cam sensor sits around the inner ring of the cam pulley (that they have been playing with to do the belt) it seems a highly unlikely/unlucky coincidence. If it was the crank sensor, mounted away from the job in hand then maybe, but the only sensor in reach of a part your working on t...

It will self bleed through turning left to right full locks.
For the b5.5 you want CHF11S green hydraulic oil.
For the b3 it will be normal red dextron 2 atf/pas fluid.

Clearance, their idea of an acceptable tolerance was alot more than your average modifier
Genuine RS4 wheels are 19x9 et20 so you will struggle to get them on without arch work, but I doubt very much you will find a set with a 'shoe string' budget.

Re: gear box / link / clutch :(
Imo a gearbox oil change is always a good place to start with gearbox problems, they call them fill for life but there is no way any oil will be as good after 200k miles and 15 years as it was new.

Re: Timing belt worries!!!
Given that that is for tdi engines and the setup is mainly different, not least the lack of timing tools for the petrol engines it's about as relevant as linking a how to for a vauxhall corsa Tbh.

Re: Timing belt worries!!!
If I'm honest I have never done an AZM engine, but it appears from the kit to be the same as the other petrol engines. The tensioner comes loose, and has 2 pointers on it, the aim is to line up the pointers, but they can move, that's where the damper comes in, it comes locked in the compressed positi...

Re: Timing belt worries!!!
If you have done belts before this will be no challenge, if you a seasoned belt changer it's a case of front into service position (have a search) and it's all very easily accessible, if not I'd recommend removing the front lock carrier assembly leaving all you need directly infront of you to work o...

Re: Double din advice
Jesus, this has been over complicated! If you have Gamma over changer in the dash at the moment you simply remove both, and the divider between them (it simply pulls out) fit the double din cage that comes with the radio and plug it into the ISO wiring the Passat has as standard. Worst case you will...
