Re: Driver's side still wet??

Wondered about doors, if the back door panel leaks enough water due to the floor profile it can make its way to the front footwell on the same side, iirc had that in first B5 and how I learned my way through fixing such issues.

Re: Driver's side still wet??

Just replied in a different thread didnt know youd actually done some of the work, verify water isnt passing the resealed reg panels and then the ECU seal is indeed the next likely suspect. What gaz means is pour plenty of water on outside of closed window obviously, ie hosepipe, so plenty runs down...

Re: All three brakes lights stuck on...?? Help..

Its not difficult or expensive work tbh. Drain bungs in plenum chamber, pollen filter housing seal, ECU housing seal less commonly, reseal the door regulator panels, thats the biggest and most common ones, there can be others but those are the bulk of peoples problems usually. Couple of seals from T...

Re: All three brakes lights stuck on...?? Help..

Have you fixed all the common leaks and water ingress points, then dried out under the carpet, then traced/checked/repaired all the common corroding wiring items? Pretty much 1 - 2 days work and seats out, some new bits and materials, not usually too expensive, and most carpet up and some trim off, ...

Ah I see, no, if the aerial is amplified directly that should be fine, just so used to the "I changed my stereo without reading anything or learning anything now Ive got no radio stations" type post lol. I often prefer a stable switched 12V + supply for such things as opposed to the output...

Re: IRRATIC START WHEN COLD

I think a lot of this is chasing rainbows, much focus on one specific issue, when going back and reading post 1 suggests there are a number of issues of concern regarding the general condition of the engine, poor condition, quite serious ones that would suggest a serious inspection at the least.

You cant buy any modern car sub 3k and not spend at least the difference in corrective maintenance.

That goes double for vw/vag.

So, you replaced everything in the clutch assembly, like the thrust bearing, as is commonly held to be worth the hassle and cost whilst having it all stripped down?

When you say they are voltage sensitive what do you mean? They're easily overloaded? How could I damage one accidentally? You could damage it because theyre voltage sensetive (and current, but i think he was trying to keep it simples). Basically its an electrical term based on electrical knowledge....

Re: V6 tdi no power windows mirrors or alarm beep

Please remember, all wiring repairs are not garunteed to be long lived if you do not fix the causes, which are well known water ingress leaks on the B5/5.5 chassis. The pollen filter housing body seal, or the door regulator panel failed seals, or the blocked plenum chamber drain bungs to list but a ...

Re: Driving along engine starts knocking

Omfg! Firstly, stop trying to start it!

If you cant find anything obvious top end or timing belt, then it needs a thorough check over from timing to fuel system to whatever, and i mean by a good mechanic who knows the engines, and if thats still unclear it probably needs a full engine out stripdown.

Re: V6 tdi no power windows mirrors or alarm beep

Ok good for properly testing fuses. Uprating a fuse that wasnt blown wont solve anything. You need to trace every wire in the loom specifically checking every wire splice hasnt corroded and disintegrated. Same goes for the kick panels plugs, disconnect each plug one by one and look for broken off or...

Our's failed its MOT today - front number plate, headlight that won't adjust and an issue with front suspension. £280 for another 12 months on the road. However there are advisories for all the dampers and front springs, plus it is overdue for a timing belt. What to do? Including a proper timing be...

Deep pockets for a Caravelle! Im not keen on the T6 restyle. I dont want to bear bad news if you bought new but the T6.1 restyle (restyle of a restyle of a restyle lol) is landing in showrooms imminently. Yes the retrofit projectors mount to original bulb holes, however you have to take the front le...

Usually its 2 torx or allen sockets on the top or back of the headlight body, one horizontal one vertical adjustment.

That said, RTFM? :-bd (in politer terms what does it say in the car manuals, service books etc?) The info will be in there somewhere.

Email kmb auto parts and theyll probably help you identify, they make the retrofit kits, of which there are quite a few variations. The oil pump drive is a silent killer, by the time many have replaced a turbo too soon then at the end finally had the inadequate oil pressure warning its often too lat...

A garage that cant be bothered with work for weeks, id have laughed at them and had it uplifted and taken elsewhere if they couldnt improve that answer immediately. Re: disable afs

Why disable it if its working?? Fix the error. You should know what the error code and cause is if you have vag com, fix the error.

AFS is an excellent feature, and given its integrated to the car and its canbus system, and the headlights, im not sure you even can, or should disable it.
