Re: So since my B5.5...........

Oh, and suprisingly despite the fact no man should be seen in one, TT drivers might be among the very few audi drivers that usually dont behave like absolute c***ts that should have been murdered at birth. :-bd Lol, I ooze manliness so I can pull it off and you are right never been buzzed by a TT l...

Re: Carry on or scrap?

Simple choice, virtually every car is a loss to own anyway, by depreciation or by maintenance. If you really appreciate what you have you do your best to keep it going if you can afford to, if youre not bothered, or cant sustain the cost, you get rid.

Re: Rear tyres outside edges scrubbed! bush kits?

Its not just Wales, though granted that is an A rated mistake on the best of days, its the unpredictability of UK weather, Ive lived in tropical climates that were actually easier to predict when a swimming pool worth of water would get dropped on your head.

Re: Rear tyres outside edges scrubbed! bush kits?

Dont I know it, through several bad decisions ended up living in the first house Ive owned without a garage, its totally destroyed my maintenance ethic and enthusiasm for getting stuck in and keeping on top of maintenance.

Re: Rear tyres outside edges scrubbed! bush kits?

Usually theyll tell you theres very little or no adjustment possible at the rear of a B5.5 which is more or less correct. Youre really only looking for confirmation the alignment is ok after changing, and maybe some correction if its still significantly off. Also, a lot of techs really dont like the...

Re: Rear tyres outside edges scrubbed! bush kits?

Itll probably leave a clear spot when the old casting comes off, but mark around its base for example.

Even after that probably worth having an alignment check done afterward.

Re: Rear tyres outside edges scrubbed! bush kits?

Theres some movement in the bolt holes, so mark the old ones positions accurately and fot new to match position. Support the axle well and do one side at a time.

Changing these transforms loose handling at the rear, well worth doing.

Re: Rear tyres outside edges scrubbed! bush kits?

The ONLY passat b5.5's that have rear wishbones are the 4motion versions (totally different from the B6 kit discussed earlier), every other version have the torsion beam rear axles.

Re: Rear tyres outside edges scrubbed! bush kits?

There are no rear wishbones on a 2wd car, its a torsion beam rear axle. Essentially a beam axle that can also twist : https://www.google.com/search?q=b5.5+rear+axle&client=ms-android-h3g-gb-revc&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiZr4uw_OnjAhVHQUEAHf_0DSgQ_AUoAnoE...

Not on a roadgoing car, but you still would have to remember to empty it regularly.

The kits arent too hard to fit, but require a full door strip down. Usually it involves drilling out rivets holding the old slider channels and then fixing on the new ones.

Re: Passat Estate 2010 b6 alarm keeps going off

If any of the microswitches in the locks fail such the car cannot tell if doors or tailgate/boot are open or closed it can trigger the alarm.

Its a common vw/vag fault.

Do you get a boot open/closed indication on the dash display? If so check that to verify.

Re: Double din help

Not sure i dont use spacers often. Im only using now as a temporary setup, might still need on the back. Its much harder speccing for a 4motion cant stagger widths if rolling dimensions front and rear differ more than 4% so prob have to do same all round and space the rear unless i get I got my H&am...

Good stuff its surprising how much the right launcher improves things isnt it. You can use one of the many preset skins or design your own, not sure I would do that while driving though! I generally have one of the skins with the roundel in center and speedometer on that, I usually only use copilot ...

Re: Tyre choice Monte Carlo 17"

Forgot this was a B5.5, might actually be a bit close as Gaz says.

iirc I ran 235/34 17 on mine with the A8 Sport wheels but I cannot remember the offsets clearly, might have been ET35, I know they were just about as close as it gets without rubbing arch lip on the front at -40 lowered.
