Re: Best polish/wax for Reflex silver

It all depend's on what prep you've done. Once my silver blue paint has been clayed and preped with Zymol Cleaner wax, I finish off with Dodo Juice Light Fantastic. If you can, it's best to apply a second coat 24 later for the best results. They do small trial pots which are just enough to do 2 coat...

Re: B5 2.5 V6 TDI

Here I am. B5's and B5.5 up to about 53 plate (facelift with indicators in mirrors) had 150ps. Later facelift ones had 163ps. There were no 4WD ones in rhd uk spec, mores the pity. All V6 TDI's are old tech TDI (non PD), which according to many techie's is no bad thing. The only fragile part is the ...

Re: new wheels?

One of my RS6's had a bit of a coming together with a kerb on hols last week. I'm back on my OEM 17's at the moment and deciding what to do with my reps. I had thought about painting them a darker silver to be a bit different. As for R8's, if you mean RS8's, I had a set on my Leon and they didn't la...

I have to say you're doing a good job Col.

I wasn't convinced when I first saw the thread, but seeing the wagon at UD's, I reckon it looks mighty fine.

I've been debating this one for ages now. It's this time of year at shows where my car just looks wrong. Reading throught the posts. it seems that you get what you pay for. My wifes Peugeot 307 has a Weitec GT fixed height spring and damper kit. The ride is firm but well controlled. So much better t...

Re: Worth It Or Worthless?

I'd leave that well alone. The reason that Revo, Custom Code, Superchips etc are much more expensive is development. They are proven to work and are reliable. The only safe way IMO to upgrade a 1.8T is with a proper re-map from a pro. There are many lesser known places that can give similar reuslts....

Re: How big is your fuel tank?

I also depends on the calliberation of the pump. There always used to be just one petrol station in Craven Arms. When the Supermarket opened up a new petrol station they were selling fuel for about 5p a litre cheaper than the old boy. The next day he had dropped his price to match, so I went to him ...

Re: How big is your fuel tank?

Just done a check on mine today. 500 miles bang on using 58.82 litres to the first click works out at 38.6mpg.

Thats exactly what the computer said.

It's still cheaper to use my Golf as a daily thought, + it's more fun :)

Re: How big is your fuel tank?

My trip computer is only 1-2 mpg out. It is no less accurate than before the remap.

Remapped cars still measure the amount of fuel injected, where ones with tuning boxes dont due to the box confusing the signal from the ecu.

Re: Vw Gamma head unit question

The one in the pics looks like an early Mk4 Golf.

I bought a in dash changer to go in a 99 Golf with that radio. It worked in my 2004 Passat, so was not faulty, but would not work in the Golf. It seems that there are 2 different types of Gamma units.

I tried to order one from C&R Enterprises last year, but it was taking so long to come that I gave up in the end.

All rules are made up based on large sweeping generalisations. I was watching an old boy trying to parallel park a Micra today. He had to get Mrs out to watch him into a space that a Transit had just left. He made a complete ars e of it, then gave up and drove off. I reckon the speeding rules could ...

The odds are pretty slim on it breaking on you on the drive home, but sod's law and all that. I'd risk it though. Get it done as soon as you can though. My brother-in law bought a 306 GTI6 recently, it had patchy service history so booked it in for a service and belt as soon as he had some spare cas...

That Passat looks like it has potential.

Is it a GT?

You should take a look at Eddi's GT saloon (erl72) to see what can be achieved. It's great to see these old cars still been loved.

Autoleads do an in line aerial booster. It is a metal tube like thing that plugs between the headunit and the aerial lead, and takes power from the radios accessory output (blue wire).

Halfords sell them for about a tenner.
