Re: Retrofit front fogs?

I only really use them to light up the edge of country roads at night.. Not fussed how good they are in fog.. Read a couple of posts now commenting on front fogs negatively affecting smic airflow.. Probably just leave it for now.. Anyone stuck a tidy looking (functional) intake vent in place of the ...

For £219 they can keep it...
Probably excellent quality but that's a ridiculous price.

Re: B5.5 Highline 130

The old knob and gaiter were minging..
Was thinking the black gaiter might look odd with the grey interior but it looks ok imo..
And the knob is lush..

Well pleased..Image

Re: B5.5 wagon rear light options

I didn't mean cutting the wiring.. if it meant I had to do that I'd be looking for alternatives.

Re: Retrofit front fogs?

There is not ever a single excess wire/connector in these cars, every cable set was built to the exact spec of the car. This makes no sense to me (not disputing what you say, just that it seems daft from a manufacturers point of view) You can find retrofit wire sets for relatively cheap. Most work ...

Retrofit front fogs?

Can't find a definitive yes or no so..
Would front fogs in the grilles be plug and play?
Obviously a new headlight switch would be required.. but is the wiring for it all likely to be there?

Re: B5.5 wagon rear light options

Thanks guys.. just need to find a sensibly priced pair of B5 lights.. You can buy a look adapter in eBay for this.. might do that just so the original wiring is maintained.. Although, as I'd be cutting chunks out of the thing perhaps it's moot.. What were VW thinking when they put those ghastly rear...

B5.5 Highline 130

Picked this up cheap.. its got the crunchy 2nd gear but I'm not worried yet.. Bit of history, seems like all the important stuff has been done.. Was cheaper to buy 4 (Audi S-line) 17's with good tyres than buy 2 new fronts for the original 15's Bit of a smell inside so cabin filter first... Good cal...

Re: 2nd gear crunch

I'll stick with the 5... I don't mind a it of messing but bigger challenges, no thanks.. Price of FHN boxes varies it seems.. seen a buy it now for circa £60, and also £100+ Still going to give this one a coupla hundred miles to see if it mellows.. after that I think a used box will be more practica...

I'd be looking at a sturdier box if I were doing a swap tbh...

Quite like the 6-speed in the Golf, seems to have much longer legs than the 5-speed. Doubt the upgrade would be easy, or cheap, though.

Re: 2nd gear crunch

Does it still crunch if you rev match your gear shifts? I don't really understand rev matching.. have read 'how-to's', even ones with diagrams.. nup.. doesn't compute. Used to do it on the motorbikes (uniwttingly), usually changing gear without any clutch usage after I'd pulled away.. but that was ...
