Fluid tester arrived this morning..
Less than 1% water so the fluid is fine..
Been out on the country lanes today and the brakes are still great..
Gonna get the fluid changed 'just in case' when I have a spare bullseye..

Re: '04 TDI 130.. brake pedal sank to the floor..
Well.. since there's no leaks, I'd say either fluid or master cylinder.. seems a bit of a no-brainer having googled most of the last 12 hours.
Fluid looks good though.. clean and clear..
And.. just took it out and the brakes are fine. Can't fault them.
Dunno what to do.

One, maybe both, my rear speakers (the 6.5's) are 'farting' with any bass at all..

Re: 2nd gear crunch
Yep, 3 of [emoji41] So many numbers and differing opinions.. Reason I went for the 75W is because it's GL4 which is the original recommendation.. the 75W80 is GL5. There were some posts about GL5 affecting yellow metals. It may have been fixed with different additives in modern GL5's but, given I ne...

Re: '04 TDI 130.. brake pedal sank to the floor..
Nothing wrong with the pedals.. Clutch is unaffected, it's just the brake pedal.. With engine off I can, by exerting as much pressure on the pedal as I can, get the pedal about half way to the floor.. Then I fired her up and the pedal felt just about back to normal. Not really up for a road test thi...

'04 TDI 130.. brake pedal sank to the floor..
Since we bought the car a couple of months ago the brakes have been some of the best I've ever had on a car. This evening the pedal (with some resistance) sank almost to the floor, a re-pump and it's almost business as usual, couple more pumps and there's nothing (like extreme brake fade is the only...

Re: 2nd gear crunch
I put the Febi in the 6-speed golf box but given the current situation I want to make sure it's 100% and the Fuchs comes up more often than not.. It's just the weights I'm not certain of 75W 75W80 or 75W90 Info conflicts somewhat but the 75W80 I think is preferred.. Never really 'done' gearboxes bef...

Sorry dude, I didn't see this post go up... I had some in 'stock' - probably got them for a previous car by mistake.. Have you fitted them yet? Re: 2nd gear crunch
I know from reading other threads on here that refurb can be very expensive but you get a good working gearbox. Replacing from another second hand unit is the cheapest option but that unit could be the same as yours or worse. Unless you did the work yourself and paid for no labour it could get expe...

Re: 2nd gear crunch
It's done about 400 miles since the oil change now and is still the same. Cold or warm, makes no difference to 2nd gear. I thought the oil change was quite reasonable at ~£45.. Think my options now are refurb/replace the linkage or replace the box, the former being what I'd like to know more about a...

Re: 2nd gear crunch
The old gear oil was filthy black but no metal bits in it at all...
First is usually a bit 'notchy' going into gear but no crunch.
Including fitting a new, used, box is likey going to set me back close to £300..
I'd like to exhaust possibilities before going there if I can..

Re: 2nd gear crunch
Sorry to bump but I'm still hooked on linkages - repair/replace now.. How would I find if a bush, or something, was worn on the linkage and is it/are they easily replaceable? Could it be worth replacing the whole linkage before plumping for a used 'box (and, again, what is replacement like to do? An...

The 2-din MCD Nav unit
Do any folk still want these?
I really like the look of the thing but it's bugging me not being able to get up to date maps so I may look for an aftermarket unit to replace it..
Ordinarily I'd bin stuff like this but I read a while back folk wanted them.. hence the question..
