Re: Standard suspension on B5.5 Sport Estate

Mines got 18" RS6 reps on standard suspension. The ride is not as good as the standard 17's, neither is the handling, and I have noticed an increase in fuel consumption. I put it down to the new (cheaper) wheels being much heavier than the oem ones. I'm going back to 17's as soon as I've worn t...

Re: Our 4Mo Wagon...

Are the B3's as floppy and bendy on the lower edges as a B5.

I had a Cavalier SRI 130 in 1989. That had a painted rear spoiler that you could push your finger into, but the lower part of the door trim on a B5.5 can bend through 180 degrees.

Re: Was there really a 2.0L 20v B5.5 ??????????

Hmmmmm, that looks like an S to me not an SE. Didn't SE's have 15" Wellington alloys and a single CD player. Oh hang on, it's got a B5 dash, so there is no space for the CD player. Looks like the factory must have forgotten to put B5.5 centre console in with the arm rest as well. How careless :...

Nice that.

I've got the same colour, just wish I had the 4Mo and the Xenons.

I've thought about painting my lowers, but most people say that they will crack. I quite like it the way it is.

Re: This guy shouldn't drive => commence slanging

If you dont know the body shop, dont just think it'll be ok because your insurance says so. Ask around, go and find one for yourself, then, and only then tell your insurers where you want the car to be fixed. It may take a fews days longer to sort things out now, but that's better than weeks/months ...

Anyone got Air Ride

Iv'e been debating whether to lower my car for absolutely ages. I know it needs it for a looks point of view, and that was emphasised parked next to so many lowered Passats at Ultimate Dubs, but I really do need the ground clearance, and even a modest 30-40mm drop is would be too low for me. I know ...

A mate had a new M3 the other day.

He had taken his own 2 year old M3 in for a service though. I dont think he would have got it if he had taken a B reg 316 :)

Re: 2000 b5 can i fit a DIN head unit or is it Double DIN only?

They are separate units with a spacer between them, but leave a double din sized hole when you take them out.

If you want to fit a single din headunit, a oddment tray from a Mk4 golf will fit the space perfectly.

Have you thought about having the dash trimmed in leather.

I saw MJ Interiors doing one when I had my Golfs seats re-trimmed.

each to their own and all, but i totally fail to see the point of personalised plates, just screams "look at me ive not got anything better to do with £250" (see the thread about the £7k car wax) Got to disagree with that one Matt. I dont think that £250 is much to spend on something t...

OK, anyone else wanting to join the UK Passats club stand on Sunday, we have managed to get another 4 spaces. I have spoken to the organisers today, and we have blagged the spare spaces left from people backing out from Section 8. When we arrive, we will all be in a queue with all the other clubs, a...

Re: Hopefully got personalised numberplate

I like private plates,we've got them on both our cars. They are good for hiding the age, even to the point that I forget how old they are. We have numbers for the kids on retention too. I bought them when they were both born. They are prefix single digit ones with their initials. They cost £250 eac...

Personally I dont like them (sorry Bob)

First thing I did when I got my Mk2 Golf was to take the eyebrow spoiler off.

I think those sort of things are a bit old hat now. Dubs look best oem plus, smooth and clean IMO.

Some people do have too much money, but think about it, if you earned £80,000 a week (£4.16m a year) playing football, what would you do with it all?

It's all relative really.
