the ones I've seen up there are white vans sat on the bridge over the motorway, and as you say, they could for all the world look like a contractors van parked up

The only decent anti-shake I've found is Pentax (and samsungs) digital SLRs and the Nikon VR and Canon IS lenses... it helps slightly but no substitute for a tripod :) the I.S on my Panasonic (Lumix FZ30) is fantastic - no problems at all. My little beastie loves a drop of VPower which I find it seems happier on than BPUltimate but it was always quite frisky on Sainsbury's Super.
